Cruise control/speed limit stalk replacement

Hi All, my speed limiter amber light is constantly on. The pen type mechanism seems to have failed and so I cant use the cruise control as the limiter is always on. I have searched online to find a video of how to remove the stalk assembly to no avail. I ONLY want to replace the cruise control stalk if possible. Does anyone have a video gf how to remove the shroud and the stalks? Thank you

thanks but unfortunately it is completely different.... The clock spring removes with screws on the W 203. On the W 204 its all clamped together via the plastic housing which seems impossible to remove if you dont know how.

Ah my apologies. How about we instead search for 'how to remove airbag w204' 'how to remove steering wheel w204' so we can get you to your final destination

'remove clock spring w204'

which part are you stuck on? im assuming 5:45 is what you are talking about? (probably better videos out there, this one seems dark)

*look how he just pulls it off lol and does not show how he took the shroud off. only putting it together

At 6:51 he removes the cover... but doesnt show it. Have seen this and many other videos but none show how to remove the plastic housing. I managed to get this far as well as to remove the top circular ring by force, which then gave me the switch unit with the clock spring. I want to tear that part down further in order to get to the actual stalk... I dont know how to do this and am worried I will break more than I fix.

** this is something that would happen to me, the way he puts it together, no screws.. just some clips slotting into place, that red thing in particular

it would seem that the top ring is first in place, therefor, last to be removed, but you have the ring off first

ITs really difficult on the W 204... on this video it looks much easier being a different car. Once you get the front ring off and pull it out, its still a big plastic piece stuck together with all sorts of tabs etc. One cant even remove the clock spring as one cant get to the parts to remove it... W203 is a piece of cake.. and I am trying to see if I can ONLY replace the cruise stalk.... its somewhat cheaper

AFAIK, you cannot just replace the stalk...you have to change the steering control module, which includes the turn signal knob, the cruise control stalk, and the steering wheel adjustment lever.

well, I thought so too, but I have seen numerous people on eBay selling just that part which makes me assume they took it apart
