water damaged ecm
i have been googling the part number 2721532192 and have found a couple of used ones on ebay.
however, google also suggests that part 2721532191 for the c300 is compatible as well
can anyone confirm if this is possible?
there are hundreds more of the c300 version available
we are wintering in florida and i have found a number of the c300 ecm's within driving distance
can anyone recommend a shop near Tampa to get it programmed
thanks
ron
but the unit i have from the car is the 192 version. they are not sure why. i have a feeling the person i spoke to has no idea
i hate to write off a car we really like
my gut says try a used 191 version, i have found couple for less than $200 as opposed to the $2000 they want for a new one
this is the one from our car
thanks for your help

With your ecm does it still work, just wondering it there is a way of cleaning the board/corrosion and then respray the surface with lacquer this is what is usually sprayed on to protect the circuit board from atmospheric damage.
Could you post up a photo if you are not sure of so we can have a look and possibly come up with a repair.

A tooth brush can be used for cleaning along with come contact cleaner.
At this stage you have nothing to loose form spending some time cleaning it up and through assessment with photo.
Prior to removal was the car running and no warning lights on the dash?
If it was not running or had faults move straight to replacement.

i am leaning towards a refurbished unit. However I worry that a 10 to 12 year old board may have its own issues
i did find a new one in Canada but by the time I get it programmed it will be close to $2500 vs $1000 for refurbished one...
we we really like the car and had the 4matic rebuilt 2 years ago.
I would take take a chance on the the refurbished one but “she who must be obeyed “, and who’s car it is, wants the new part...
i really don’t need to be “I told you so”d...
thanks for the advice
