Differential fluid service interval - W204 C250 RWD
Thank you in advance.
ive only been able to find a thread from 8 years ago stating that the fluid should be good for 100k miles https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-c...id-change.html
and one from YouTube which said good for at least 80k miles
I wonder if the diff fluid are also labelled as "good for the life of the car" like transmission fluids were initially which led to transmission failures.
I wonder if its better not to service the diff fluid on very high mileage cars (again like transmission fluids)

A differential is a much simpler mechanism than an automatic transmission - the auto trans has all sorts of narrow fluid passages, solenoid valves that can get sticky, etc etc, hence the concerns about when or if to do transmission fluid changes on a higher mileage transmission. A diff is just big gears, so I can't see any reason changing the fluid would be an issue.

I re-used the same filler plug, I just screwed it back on to proper torque, 50nm I believe. later on I came across an MB procedure that shows a sealant installed on the fill plug prior to installing. I havent had an issue with leaking thankfully. Sealant makes sense why I had such a hard time removing the fill plug, had to use my impact on it.
