I looked up the Liquid Moly 5W30 green bottle and do not see it being approved by Mercedes. But there is another 5W30 that is.
Is it bad to use non approved oil, I dont know. But I like to keep it simple so theres no guess work.
Heres the green bottle:

I read the same thing in one of the threads that the green stuff doesn't meet MB spec. Like you, I will continue to run the mobil1 0w40.

Just got 6 qts from Amazon for $43 and an OEM MB oil filter for $16.
They were doing an extra $10 off the oil.

Bumping this thread again.
Anyone running the MolyGen 5w-40 new generation oil in their m271evo 1.8L c250?
looks to meet the Mercedes spec for oil but was curious to see if anyone is running it and their experience with it.
Thanks ,
Ant

I typically only use the mobil1 euro FS 0W-40.
However, I did an oil change on my fathers 2002 e430 m113 V8, when I did plugs, coils and used the MolyGen oil for that oil change. It's been about a month and so far so good with his car.
My buddy has a bmw 335i x drive and swears by it as well.
Again, thank you for the responses. Looking forward to hear feedback from others.

Here's the approved operating fluids website by MB. - https://operatingfluids.mercedes-benz.com/sheet/229.5
It gives all the approved oils for each spec requirement. You can toggle it by clicking the oil icon in the top left corner of that page depending on what your car requires.
Liquimoly is on the 229.5 approved list but not MolyGen specifically.
Hope this helps

I do my oil changes on all my vehicles at the 5k mile interval so no worries there.
I wasn't aware the m113 was a lower performance engine than ours. But makes sense as it's 10 years newer with more electronics and output being an I4 engine.
I'm still up in the air if I will run it but thank you all for the feedback. Keep it coming !
Thank you,
Ant

I am going to be using the liquimoly MOLYGEN for the oil change I am doing today.
5w-40 new generation fully synthetic
I have been doing a lot of research on the oil and I believe this will help a lot of known issues with the m271evo engine.
I just performed a sound test/decibel reading before I change the oil. Previously I have been using Mobil1 euro formula 0w-40, changing every 5k miles.
i will do another sound reading after I change the oil for comparison and post videos.
I also took a pic of the MPG I had before I filled up this morning, to compare fuel economy.
will report back with observations once I change the oil.

I posted the sound decibel test on my YouTube channel comparing the mobil1 0w-40 and the New Generation MOLYGEN 5w-40 oils.
