So I can't even remember what I was down there looking but I was under my dash near the pedals and noticed this little black box with a light on it. Any ideas as to what this is? It's plugged into this small blue plug? It's on a 2012 C250 and no info on the box itself that I could tell from looking at it.
Definitely ESL emulator and you are lucky someone already had this done for you. Pain when the ESL goes out and expensive to do. i did my own and after not being able to find anyone who would do it for me. Dealership wanted to replace for big $$$

not sure it’s an ESL emulator, op will have to post a pic, I don’t know why he hasn’t. Even if it’s an emulator it would go where the original ESL would be on the steering column, that’s how mine is. And yes, it is a pain. Personally, for the price the emulator is better then rebuilding the original or buying a new one, you won’t have the issue of the column locking up again if it goes bad again.
