Updated parts numbers question
Is there a site where we can see the most current part number for replacement parts? I’m in need of a new front SAM and the mb dealer quoted a price using, what I am assuming is a new part number, but I’m paranoid and don’t want to buy it without confirming , also found a brand new one same new part number for $200 less. So just want to verify. Thanks all.

Heres a link. Click on your submodel then look in -54 Electrical Equipment and Instruments-, then the front sam is in -80 Apparatus Case and Control Units-. : https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/epc/mercedes/1/204/

thank you so much Tim! I confirmed and ordered, called dealership, they said they needed the whole car there, idk , I'll research some more or try to find an independent around me. This might turn into my retirement job in about 15 years..lol

I have never done it but from reading others posts it doesnt seem that hard to replace the sam, just have to be careful to not break any other the wire harness connectors going to the unit. If its a brand new sam im thinking it will have to be programmed to the car once its installed. I've seen some people get away with installing used units, but even then some things may not function properly without programming it.

I have taken the current one out and dried it off and cleaned it using a soft nylon brush and electrical cleaner, put it back in and more thing worked, but it essentials like horn, turn signals and lights.
I was under the impression that they could flash the new one using the old one and not the whole car.
which begs the questions, if the obdii port isn't givime any info on the current one, won't they have to open the case and clip to the chip?
I guess I'll find out

Maybe it's time to get XENTRY and a membership with @BenzNinja He can remotely code your car for you. This will be important if you have an older car where you need to replace things.
With a membership (lifetime for any and all Mercedes you own or may own) you get the XENTRY software along with WIS and EPC. WIS being the electronic workshop manual and EPC being the parts catalog.

Your obd port isnt working? have you tried connecting to a Mercedes specific obd scanner?
Did you triple check to make sure all the connectors were put back on the unit?
Have you checked all related fuses of the non-functioning items to see if they are at least getting power? Heres a link to the W204 fuse diagrams: https://fuse-box.info/mercedes-benz/...uses-and-relay
