Need help to identify the piece by photo found in my car

Hello everyone!

Could you please help me identify this object?
I found it by accident lying in a pocket near the windshield wiper attachment . It seems like one of the mechanics might have forgotten it there. I believe it’s been there for at least a month, as I hadn’t noticed it before — it blended in with the pocket and was barely visible.

I’m just hoping it’s not a part from my car, but simply a tool that was accidentally left behind.

It’s about 25 inches long, and there are threads on one end.
Any idea what it could be?

Looks like it could be a part of a multi-section handle. Probably not part of your car.

Even though you have you car listed in your profile, it is always helpful to identify the year and model in your posting.

Now, these are part of your car. They are critical pieces that fit in the crease where the seat cushion and back rest meet in the back seats. Please put them back where you found them. You may need to shove them in a little.

Alternatively, you can throw them under the front seat.

The regularly spaced grooves look like it’s a handmade tool to measure something. It doesn’t look sturdy enough to be a cheater bar. Unlikely to be a part of the car. You might send the picture to the last shop that did work on your car. The mechanic might be glad to get it back.

What work were you having done to the car?

That does not appear to be a part to the car.

Left up by the windshield, im picturing someone trying to remove the top o2 sensor and using that as additional leverage on on ratchet. Left it there by accident. Im speculating obviously. I had to work on my o2 sensors on the passenger side and needed additional leverage to get it off.

It's actually a part of a Storage Rack that you assemble. The grooves are where plastic clamps go and where the shelves attach, so you can place multiple shelves at differing heights.

Thank you for all your answers, guys. Now I can sleep peacefully! Looks like someone just forgot it there. It actually scratched a bit of paint on the wiper arm

Good point, I've put it as signature for better visibility.

For the past 2-3 months there was O2 sensor on exhaust pipe replaced, rear sub frame , one of the pulley, brake lines, some rear toe arms. I guess it could be anything...

That could actually be it. I've only owned this car for four months, so who knows — it might have been there even since the previous owner.

Yep definitely an upright for a storage rack. Just assembled some this weekend. I wonder how it got there. It would be hard to believe that it’s been there since you’ve had the car. I would think it would make some noise.

Somebody probably used it as a "Torque Multiplier" or similar aid while working on the car.
