I've never replaced one so not entirely sure. The manual mentions downloading the info off the sam prior to replacing it.
If you are buying a brand new sam im guessing some features may have to be programed. Example if you have (234) Blind spot assist.
Ive seen people buy used and it was plug n play, then ive seen where someone bought used and had to go to the dealer to get some features working.
I was just playing around with my obd scanner and it showed the info for the front and rear sam. I was surprised to see my front sam starts off with part# 212.
I'm thinking I'm screwed on this. Mercedes don't have a sam that will work and no date on if they will get one. Plus 1200 and coding is just too much. I have found one that might work but my icarsoftmb2 won't connect to odb and don't think it will be able save info from the sam. What kind of had me baffled is the list from that link don't include the part number from the sam that's in the car now.
I havent looked at the label on my front sam but had it on the scanner and read the numbers. I looked around on eBay and think I found one that may be the same. I'm too lazy to open up the sam and look. What does your sam label read?
Im not finding any used. Found a few new, not sure if they are really in stock will have to call them.
Looks like it is possible to send the sam out and have the new one programmed off it. Wonder if thats something you can do. I havent looked into what is needed to do it.
So the link you sent with all the part numbers for Sam modules that are compatible how accurate is that? I found one that matches. But don't want to pay for it and not be able to use it. I have asked if there was anyone with the star system near me if I need programming but haven't the found anyone yet.
Im assuming the parts list is all the ones that are used in that submodel. But it may not be the exact one installed in your specific car. Example they list the part #'s for all the struts that can be installed, luxury and sport. All the struts will fit, but may not be the ones you want. Same with the radios, some have all different features.
As far as finding a sam that will plug and play in your car I just dont know. I dont have enough experience with those things.

Hi there, I have been through everything you have and I hope you get lucky,but, it'll mk isn't likely need flashed at an MB dealer. Or, ECU mavericks will basic fix the one you have and flash itnplug and play for like $500.
I was lucky to find a new front Sam out of some dealers in RI, bb it water got in again and while mine still works, the lights stay on all the time the cars running and the horn doesn't work.
I'm wait for the end of the year to utilize ECU mavericks, but yeah.

I found the Sam with the same number but it didn't fix the problem it also had the automatic shift indicators in the cluster where mine's a 6-speed but it did the same thing as the old Sam ended up replacing the can bus modules and cleaning the connection and now everything is working.
