Passenger side window regulator broke

This afternoon, I rolled both front windows halfway down. When I pressed the buttons to roll them back up, I heard a loud bang, and the passenger-side window stopped moving.
Right now, the front passenger window is completely down and won't go up. After doing some online Googling, it looks like the window regulator might be the issue.
Has anyone dealt with this before and can share some DIY tips?
I’ve seen replacement parts online. Some are just the regulator, while others come with the regulator already attached to the panel.
I recently replaced the driver-side door handle, but I know this repair is more involved, especially since it requires drilling out rivets and other steps.

Do you hear anything trying to work or move when you press the window buttons? ive never had the doors opened up so not sure what is really in there. With the loud noise id guess something broke and jammed.

Take off the door panel and have a look.

Do you have a scanner to check for faults? My scanner has functions to test the switches to see where the issue is.

Can always look thru the manual for instructions: https://charm.li/Mercedes%20Benz/201...d%20Diagnosis/

Easy enough. But get the one with the carrier included to cut down on the work. You’ll need a drill, a riveter and 1/4 and 1/8 rivets. You’ll be moving the wiring, a module and the actuator from the old carrier to the new. There’s a guide on pelican parts.

Interestingly I also had my passenger side break. Strange because the drivers side is still going and that gets used way more often.

I am pretty sure it's the regulator, cause the motor engages when I press the switch. But, I have the iCarsoft and will check @TimC300 .
I am thinking of getting the regulator w/panel. There are some after market choices but I think I'll end up getting the Aisin from RockAuto. I was searching for rivet sizes, so thanks @cvx5832

I got the riveter @ Harborfreight and the regulator @ EBay for 60 or so. The hard part was eliminating those rivets. You might have to reset the window or there will be a gap. Mine was also passenger’s side even though I used it less

Loud bang. Maybe the cable came off one of those plastic guide wheels?

Only time I ever worked on a car window was over 25yrs ago, had a Pontiac grand Am and one of the plastic clips that clamps onto the window glass had cracked apart.

If you're still getting a riveter, Harbor Freight has a manual one which is what I used. It comes with rivets of various sizes, but there isn't enough in case you make a mistake. So pick up a variety pack. I'm sure about the 1/4", but the smaller ones I'm hazy on since it's been a while.

Thanks all!
I got the panel with the regulator.
Getting the revit from HF as suggested.
One question, the gass is down as I mentioned, so after I remove the motor, do I manually somehow pull the glass up and hold it there with suction cups or masking tape? That part I'm not clear, how to work that out. And once I put the new panel back, do I just let the glass slide down? How does the glass attach to the regulator?
I'm sure as I start I will figure it out but knowledge is power ☺️

This one should answer a lot of those questions. Step 15 for the window -

It just needs to be at a specific height to undo the nuts

I removed all the rivets, the panel seems stuck on the right top or middle. I'm not sure if I need to drill out the 3 black plastic rivets (it seems rivets).
This is the front passenger door panel.
The glass is all the way up. I removed the 2 screws in the plastic clips that holds the glass.
Any help is appreciated.

You don't need to drill out the plastic rivets at that juncture. Should be able to come out now.

Follow the Pelican Parts guide and see if everything is good. That's the guide I used.

If it's caught at the top right side, then the handle is probably still connected. Have you taken that apart?

I removed the old panel, riveted the new one in place, and started reconnecting everything. I haven’t finished yet, but it’s coming along.
I realized I missed one rivet that holds the plastic piece behind the door handle. Is that rivet essential, or can I get by without it? I’m not exactly sure what that plastic piece is for.

These 4 actually.
The group of three has black plastic tabs, I'm thinking of using push pins of some sort.
But I'm not sure if I don't secure them what might be the consequences.

I'd rather not you find out, as that would mean having to take the door apart again. Use washers to size the holes down, use tape to hold the washers. I don't remember having to remove that 4th rivet in the picture.

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions and photos. They really helped!
I put everything back together and I’m happy with how it turned out.
The four rivets had me thinking at first as I had already riveted the panel, but I ended up using rivets along with two plastic push clips.

Here’s the final photo.
