Will Burmester 3D surround be an option?
I've been hearing it can't be beat. Hands down, best stock system ever according to S class owners. It would be nice to have that in a c class.

I would say yes, because if you google 'burmester sound system' and look at the photos, their car speakers have the same styling/color/logo that a lot of the new c class pics have, in regards to the speakers on the door, around the handle and seat controls.

c class, burmestester speaker driver.....

It says it's from the "exclusive line", so depending on which country your're in might make a difference as to what'll be available.
Here's another, from a c250 AMG...

I know it will have the standard Burmester system but I wanted to know about the 3D surrround which is an option on the S class. As you can see in the pics above, It doesn't have the Burmester metal grille tweeter like this on the S class.

per the preliminary order guide it will be similar to the H/K system available in the W204. No 3D sound is on the order guide for the W205...at this time as its a prelim. order guide.

well, omg.
I just configured an s-class for fun on the mb website, and the burmester 3d surround option is $6400.
I'm pretty sure I'll be fine with the "standard" burmester configuration.

A mere bagatele compared with pricing of Burmeister's home audio gear.

If the German MB website is anything to go from then no, just the standard Burmester system is available for around 922 euro in the W205 C-Class.
Can't wait to see one of these in the flesh. We have a W204 C250 and are keen to upgrade soon. We went to Stuttgart 2 years ago and did the factory tour. Curious now why they've moved production of the C-Class to Bremen, that's a long way away.
It's actually fun to play around with the configurator on the German MB website and see all the different colours, interiors and options available, not just for the C-Class, but all the models!
Check it out for yourself ... it's all in German but it's not that hard to navigate.

When finished click on Diashow on the right and you'll see a very nice slide show of your configuration!

Here in the UK the Burmester option is priced at £675 (around $1,100) and "3D" is omitted from the description:

Well, I guess they have to keep some things s class exlusive
3D or not, I'm pretty sure it will blow us away. 50W of clean power to an individual speaker is quite a lot, in "real audio" terms (not the bloated numbers you see on cheapish home theater receivers). I'm assuming that's for the mid drivers and tweeters, and the 120W X 2 is dedicated to the low end, which I keep reading that the body of the car is going to be used in some fashion as a 'resonator'. Sounds extremely promising if you ask me.

Can't wait to hear the new Burmeister in the C400. I don't expect it to sound like their offerings costing $6k in some other cars, but I hope its a significant step up from the already very capable HK systems included in most benz P1 packages

Burmeister would not put their name on it if it was not good. The S Class system sounds stunning.

i dont think 3D sound will be available in the C class. Probably in the new E.
Bang & Olufsen was never an option for the 204, but it was an option for the S class.

The UK spec says:
"Burmester surround sound system
13 speakers and a 9-channel amplifier with total output of 590 W (7 × 50 W and 2 ×120 W)"
That's if you spec AMG Line interior. Brochure here:
http://tools.mercedes-benz.co.uk/cur...***-saloon.pdf
Also here's a direct link to the UK configurator if you want to see how things can spec together:

According to the Burmester website there are 2 different systems available.
http://www.burmester.de/en/Company/B...Mercedes-Benz/
There is the standard Burmester SurroundSound System which looks like it will be available for the new W205 C-Class as an option, probably replacing what was previously the Harman/Kardon Logic 7 system option.
Then there is the serious Burmester 3D High End SurroundSound System which is available in the S-Class, not sure if it will be available in the C-Class though, but looking at the configurator on the German MB website it appears as though it won't be. It's a $9,900 option here (plus a few taxes) in the new S-Class. It would want to be amazing for that price.

That's £675 or $1100 so it must be the standard one.
I highly doubt it's worth their time to build the moulds and wiring loops for a $9,900 system on essentially a $40,000 car - I can't see anyone speccing it at that.

I guess the standard Burmester system will be amazing anyway, just like the Harmon/Kardons are - probably better I imagine!
