Reliability

How reliable do you think the 2015 C-Class will be? Similar to that of the W204?

I would personally wait until a 2017 as with major new versions of a vehicle, I always avoid the first year or two.

Nobody can answer a question like that. Some people wait for a year some don't. If it bothers you I'd wait for the 2016 model.

wait till 2016, first model year has the most problems, doesn't matter if its 20k or 400k vehicle. no amount of testing can get rid of all issues in the first year, besides they rush these vehicles out.

I read that the new C Class will come with a new 6-speed transmission. We all know the issues with the early 722.9.

All the info I see is a 7 speed transmission. Those numbers seem pretty technical (722.9), but to the layman 7 speed isn't a 6 speed.

It will come with a new 6 speed MT in most markets ~ not US.

I am the US, so that makes sense. Thanks! Kind of disappointed at our limited selection vs most of the other countries. (We launch with 2 -4matics only), c300 and c400. Will be pretty pricey IMO.

They have to put some price distance between this new C-class and the CLA. Otherwise, if they were priced too close, nobody would buy the CLA.

agreed.

cla starts at $29,900 (or whatever it is)

even if the new c class starts at $38,000 (theoretical pricing), i wouldn't consider that too close, but i'm afraid it gonna be even more than that.

Right, but I'm guessing the CLA figure of $29,900 is just a marketing gimmick to make people think they can buy a new Mercedes for under $30K. It's a psychological game. In reality, majority of the CLAs on the lot will be nicely optioned and closer to $35-$40K.

Of course the C-classes on the lot will not be bare bones either - I'm expecting $45K and above.

yeah, you kind of have to play the mind game of "fully loaded" gla, verses P1 only on a c. personally, I'll take a p1 only c class anyday!

Time will tell what USA prices will be but I'm not really worried. Mercedes has been telling the auto press that prices won't rise that much and it's backed that up with the announced prices in non-USA markets like the UK and Germany. Those markets have the CLA as well. Folks perhaps aren't giving enough weight to the fact that Mercedes isn't only pricing within the bubble of its own lineup; it's also got to account for the prices of competitor cars. The initial USA lineup will likely go above $40,000 but that's because they're all going to be 4matic and the current 2014 C300 4matic already sits just shy of that level at $39,400. I wouldn't be surprised if base prices for the model lines rose around $1500. I'd be surprised if the increases approached $3000.

Long term Benz has to elevate the C Class pricing in the US. The margin is too low & forces them to strip out components to meet sticker price.
