Get ready to break out those checkbooks. Mercedes-Benz has announced the prices for its 2015 C- and GLA-Class models. You've got some time, though - until August 25.
That's when the C300 4MATIC and C400 4MATIC go on sale, starting at $40,400 and $48,590, respectively. The rear-wheel-drive C300 will hit dealerships in the first quarter of 2015 at a base price of $38,400.
According to the three-pointed star, "Much of the new safety equipment [that] first debuted on the new S-Class last year appears now in the new C-Class including COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS, a radar-based system [that] can brake autonomously to avoid collisions or minimize their effects in combination with PRE-SAFE, which prepares the vehicle if a collision is imminent."
Read the rest on the MBWorld homepage.
Now it's the matter of what car I want c400 & c450, s4 or 335i & 335is. Now that mercedes has improved the interior room I think more people shopping like me will now consider the c400 as a true competitor.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
So if the base rate is high there really isn't much negotiating to be done as the dealers can't mark them down. The only solution is MSD.

C400
Base - $48590
P01 Premium Package - $0
Lighting Package - $800
Hands Free Access - $250
Sport Package - $0
Rear View Cam - $460
Pano Roof - $1480
Shipping - $925
TOTAL : $52505
C300 4 MATIC
Base - $40400
P01 Premium Package - $2700
Lighting Package - $800
Hands Free Access - $250
Sport Package - $2500
Rear View Cam - $460
Pano Roof - $1480
Shipping - $925
TOTAL : $49515
So its going to be $52,505 MSRP for the c400 with my fav option which isn't bad in my opinion. If I wait till Winter 2015, I think there may be a chance for 4-5% price break to seal the deal with my local dealer which means cost is going to be around $50K.
I need a new car soon

BTW, I bought my 2008 C350 with pano roof for $41K back in Sept 2007. So I guess the C400 is a pretty significant price jump compared to my current car.

Now this does not compare directly.... first you can't get a pano roof on the 335 (at least according to the build configurator) that is about $1.5k. Also, to get the premium pkg on a BMW you also get leather so to even things out the interior pkg on the C would be needed (just to compare numbers of course). Another oddity is that you can't simply add a backup camera to the 335, you need to add the drivers assistance pkg to get it (just clicking the side/top view cam option pulls in the dirvers assist pkg ) and there you get the 360 camera and the parking assistant (adding another $970 to the C and the 360 deg camera is not currently avail).
Making the two builds similar feature for feature the C400 would come in at just about $1k less than the 335.
