I read an article that describes the target age group (35-45). I fall in that range. While I'm not thrilled w/ the display screen, I prefer it to the weird hump that's currently present (although said hump also has a built-in hood to minimize glare/reflections). I also imagine it makes it much cheaper for them to provide the MB tex + french stitching. I'll make the sacrifice for the stitching.

For me, I wish that MB would offer some more interesting colors! If we're paying $2000 more in the US, could you offer something other than 10 shades of silver and grey? Please?

The screen is better integrated in the flesh than in pics. They might change it in the future but it should never be stowable. You use it all the time to interface with the vehicle. It does not bother me once behind the wheel.

They tired to do the hide away with the last generation. It wasn't well execute and if that motor should ever break, Im sure its very costly to fix. It wasn't a very elegant solution, I don't mind it so much now in my C class. I can see why they moved to the hooded design in the refresh.

I agree I like the hooded design.

While I agree that you don't notice the ipad as much when seated in the car it disrupts an otherwise beautiful dashboard and to me it reduces the elegance that they were going for with the new C. If I was the dash designer I would have been royally pissed.

Actually it is fortunately I'm not because it wouldn't have been nearly as beautiful (sans the Idash) .

I'm sure with time I'll get over it assuming the car drives well.

I agree that the placement of the screen in the W205 will likely be an improvement (who wants to look down while driving?). If I'm not mistaken, the upgraded screen is 8.4 in (?) while the standard screen is 7-in. In the W204, isn't the upgraded screen 7-in? I imagine that this might have caused some issues in terms of trying to come up w/ an integrated solution in a car that's much smaller than, say, an S-class. It'll be interesting to see what the next gen E-class dash looks like....

The refreshed CLS will have the ugly floating dash.
Considering that the E sits between the CLS and the C class, I would say that it is almost guaranteed that the E will have it too.

Unless dealers say that the floating dash is turning away potential buyers then I wouldnt expect MB to change.

The AMG GT design is the most acceptable implementation of the "stuck-on-ipad" IMO. I would prefer to see that in the new E instead of what they are doing now.

I like the way it is "floating" in the CLS. There is no gap between the screen and the dash, it literally sits on top of it, unlike the C which has space between the center vents and the bottom of the screen. Plus, it looks like they gave the CLS a larger screen size. Size makes all the difference

True, but I'm hoping that the E-class has an interior design that distinguishes it from the C-class. I also think the design of the CLS and AMG GT aren't bad (where the screen is nestled on a "plateau" of sorts).

Hopefully the graphics will be improved. I had a C250 loaner w/ the nav package, and I thought the graphics were TERRIBLE.

Woops, yes I completely agree. I meant to say that those are two must-haves on my next benz. Those are the two safety features I sorely miss. Could do without the parktronic, distronic, and the lane keeping assist
