I live in the northeast and I see all these very good discounts.I don't belong to any of the organizations mentioned, have not joined the owners circle,no fleet discount Just looking for the best price from any dealer within 100 miles.About the best I can do is about $2500.What gives?I see 20% or more on the west coast

I'd say the simple answer is competition. For example, in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, there are about 20 MB dealerships. Extend that out to about 25 if you extend just a little bit further than the metro area. As a result, there is a lot of competition as people living in the area will easily drive from one side of the metro area to the other side if they can save an extra $500. The only cost really is time and a bit of gas.

Los Angeles is arguably the best place to buy a car due to the sheer amount of competition as compared to other areas in the country.

Another possible reason is sales volume. The LA metropolitan area is the 2nd most populous behind only NYC with approximately 13 million people. There are a lot of rich people who all need cars to get around the area. As a result, dealerships can take more money off MSRP because they sell perhaps a higher volume of cars (although I'm pretty sure that's more based on competition). I'm pretty sure the dealerships on the southern part of the LA metro area feeds customers from San Diego metro as well since San Diego is not too far away from LA.

Oldman,

Where in the NE? I'm from Philly/South NJ area and I got about 12.5% off from a custom order; I think I could do 14-15% if the car is off the lot. I didn't come across 20%+ discount from the NE but you could be the first.

Go to the following tread to read on some price negotiation methods that works.

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...2015-c300.html

Good luck.

Thanks guys for the info & tips,I live between Phila & Allentown,There are about 4 dealers within 25 miles of me.I originally priced out a C400,I always custom order because they never have exactly what I want on the lot.I want the the sport model, relatively well optioned,I believe list price was $56800 with 4 year maint. The dealer said the best he could do was about $2500 off list.He looked at me like I was crazy when I told him the discounts I was seeing on line. This is the dealer who has been the best price for my previous Audi<MB purchases.I decide to wait for the C450 to go on sale, but I don't expect better discounts.I am not new at haggling,I always know more about the car than the salesman.Every MB deler in my area will let me walk at about the 2000 to 3000 discount from list. What dealer for the 12.5% ?

How come you're restricting yourself to within 25 miles of your location? I'd say up to 100 miles is more ideal, especially for such a big ticket item such as a car.

Also look for a high volume dealer. Mercedes gives incentives for hitting sales target. That is why you see some of the discount here which are below dealer invoice. If you don't mind to wait, look for factory incentives. Those adds extra discount like last December.

On another note, check the manufacturing date so you can advoid seat bleed problem.

Private message sent for dealer info. You need to know exactly what you want so you could cross check with other dealers. I wouldn't contact them until you're ready to order if the price is right. Keep going back to dealers with different RFQ gets old for them too.

Thanks miketc,I have been there years ago and they didn't do any better than the other 3 that I dealt, but that was in the late 90's maybe a different atmosphere now.

You didn't approach it correctly or talk to the right person. You need to go thru Edmunds.com so they know there are completions for your business because they know Edmunds will send out quote requests to multiple dealers. Walking in any dealer and ask for 12% will not get you there because they know they are the sole bidder.

yup, from what ever I had asked around earlier, the USAA should be additional to whatever discounts the dealer is offering... well, you have one quote, always look for another dealer... if that's the car you want, and the only one, I'm sure they'd be trading it across dealers.

So I've been looking around at a few dealers in the DC Area. Arlington, Alexandria, EuroMotorcars and haven't been getting any numbers I'm impressed with.

The cars at all dealers are similarly specced and MSRP is in the 59-60k range.

The best I could do at Arlington was 6500 off MSRP which isn't bad but it's not good I definitely think I can do better but I want to know what I should shoot for on a well optioned c400 cause I'm sure the discounts differ between 300s and 400s. Any help would be appreciated.

C400 Deal Your thoughts?

I have a quote from a local MB dealership and would like to ask your insightful opinion.

C400 4Matic 7500 mile/year, 36 month deal
MSRP $59,295 including destination
Base Cap Cost $53,295 ($6,000 discount)
Acquisition and additional fee $1,295
Cap Cost Reduction $2,500 Equity on the previous lease and $3,000 cash down, Total $5,500!
Adjusted Cap Cost $49090.0
Residual Value (58%) $34,391
Money Factor 0.00245
TAX (8.25% applies to Depreciation+Finance Charge+Down cash Payment)

Monty payment including tax $680+

I put $680+ as the dealer's figure does not match up to the number I calculated using any lease calculators out there (or my math). They were initially asking for $800+/mo. Needless to say, I said good bye to them but is this what we expect for C400?

The discounts on these cars are really high... almost as if they know they're full of faults

These are volume vehicles with very good margins, that is the reason one can get them for the price of a CLA, if they do their homework. No more faults than you would find in a BMW or Cadillac (speaking from experience as a BMW purist for 20 years 3 and 5 series) all had some issues like my beloved E46 with cracked x brace support.

People that walk into the dealer or pay full price (early adopters aside) are leaving a lot of money on the table. IMO.
