It all depends on the MSRP. If you buy a fully loaded at 60k, then 7k is likely. If it's base model at 40k, then only 6k.

Invoice on C300 in California is (MSRP - $925) * 0.93 + $925 + $740.
Subtract $3000 for the dealer cash.
Subtract 2% of MSRP for add'l discount off of holdback.

Any LA dealer should be able to get you the resulting price on C300s in stock. There are over five hundred (possibly even over a thousand) C300s sitting on dealer lots in the greater LA area - buyers have all the leverage.

Just make sure you read your final contract carefully.
Digging into their holdback means dealers are pulling out all stops in adding hidden fees to scam you. Check for things like dealer added useless options like VIN etching, paint finish touchups, etc. as well as markups to F&I items like ELW or PPM (for ex. Keyes in Van Nuys adds $395 finish touchup to their cars, and I've seen them charge $2075 for a 3yr PPM with MSRP or $975). If you're leasing watch for markups to money factor (0.00166 for C300) and acquisition fee ($795, but almost all LA dealers markup to $1095).

My sense is that (a) people don't really know about the new C class yet, and (b) those that do, have a tough time figuring out where it fits in the new hierarchy of MB, and so the dealers are going to have to offer attractive deals to get the ball rolling. In other words, it's a good time to get one!
Did you tell them about your USAA discount before or after you negotiated the price?

Any good contacts in the NorthEast? For those of you who are ordering, did you have to put a deposit down?

Edit: [Sorry confused my response] No, but I could have probably done better had I pushed, but ended up with a 10% discount before USAA, so I'm happy.

The other part of the equation was my trade in which they gave me a quote sight unseen and when I brought it in they didn't realize it had a manual transmission. They nonetheless honored their initial price even though they could have haggled me on that (plus some cosmetic damage).

I'm not the person you were asking, but I purchased my C250 from David Kwon at BH Mercedes, and he was straightforward and gave a great price (when I shopped that price at other dealership, they would even say, "That's a great price. We can match but can't beat it."). I do plan to contact him first in a couple of yrs when I'm in the market.

I contacted two dealers for a C400. One came back with a 'preferred' savings of $1200 off sticker; other said 5% off MSRP. Once I get a little closer to buying, I might get a little more aggressive. I haven't even driven the C400 yet

So they added the $2,000 USAA discount to the price you had negotiated? I had a dealer offer me $5,000 off but when I then mentioned my USAA discount they said it was one or the other. I thought USAA was in addition but maybe I'm wrong.

The current $3k dealer cash can't be combined with fleet discounts, and IIRC USAA is considered a fleet discount. If you could combine both, you'd be seeing people getting as low as 5k-6k below invoice, which would be in the ~$8-9k off MSRP discount range.

The USAA increase from $500 to $2k coincided with the introduction of $1500 dealer cash, so those in low-volume markets continue to enjoy a net $500 additional discount for using USAA, and those in high-volume markets can forgo USAA and take advantage of the $3k dealer cash (or possibly one dealer cash certificate + USAA for total of $3500, preserving the net $500 additional discount for USAA).

Hey, so I was looking to order me a C400 and and then while negotiating they said they could give me a higher discount for the C300... so maybe you could try that out... and I guess you could push north of 12%

How much more do you all think these may get discounted in the coming months? I'd like to get an extra $2-3k off the best discounts now. Any chance that'll happen in December or the spring? I live in the Midwest so not a high volume area.

I can't imagine getting another $2/3k off of the best discounts some are getting now...especially when some are claiming 10 - 12% off. Any lower than that you're getting into a well optioned CLA or a CLA45. And then you end up with a car that's as common as the previous C. But the bottom line is to get the best price you can...

I do agree the current discounts are really good, it's just hard to believe the best discounts possible are available only two months after a new model is released. But maybe it is.

Mike, which dealership in Philly did you get your car? Also who was the individual who sold you the car?

from what I understood from few dealers is that MB has higher margins and hence the dealers can go higher on the discounts, and I believe that's the reason the new MB C class seems to be pricier than it's counterparts.
apparently on the BMW, the discount seems to be around 8%.

I got $2000 off initially when speaking with sales person, then got it knocked down additional $2500 after negotiating on actual car. Then got the $2000 off with USAA. Then when I switched cars at the last minute for the one on the lot, I got a total of $7k. They never changed positions once I introduced USAA.

New member, first post...working on getting the best deal on C400. I've started asking for internet quotes (live in Portland, OR) from local dealers.

I am USAA member and the first quote was only for the $2000 discount. How are you getting more discounts?

Current C400 build price has me sitting right at $57,000

Hey Guyz,

Thanks for all your inputs. Initially my dealer gave me a discount of 5%. After reading the posts here, I managed to get a discount of 11.5% on my C300. I also have the Fleet Incentive ($2000). So total discount on my C300 (11.5% + $2000) = ~ 16.5%

I had the same response at first. So after spending 1.5 hrs with sales person test driving and talking and otherwise showing I was serious, I went home. The next day I said that based on research, I should be getting about a 10% discount at least on a 400. Then with USAA it crept up to close to 13%. The dealer didn't even argue with me. If they think you are both serious and informed, they will play ball.

Went back into the dealership yesterday to test drive the c300/c400 (though leaning towards the C400) after my wife and I went to see them on Saturday. Instead, I bought a near fully loaded C400 for a deal that was just hard to pass up.

C400 in Palladium Silver
Sport Black Leather
Interior Package
Lighting Package
Multimedia Package
HANDS-FREE comfort package
Driver Assistance package
Panorama Sunroof
18" AMG wheels

MSRP - $60,555 - $6655 (11%) - $2k (fleet discount) = one happy customer at $51,894 + TTL. That's 14.3% off MSRP for those keeping scores at home.

The sales rep asked me what it would take for me to get a deal done, I said 11%, quoting some posting here. I show him some of the posting and he said he'll talk to the manager. Comes back and say he can do 11% but only on in stock cars, ordered cars he couldn't. I was hesitant at first since it's not exactly want we wanted, but then he asked who my employer was. I told him and he said he'll be right back. Came back and said I have a $2k fleet discount. Would that seal the deal. At nearly $9k off, it's a pretty damn good price. Here's the thing, from my company's website and HR department, they aren't sure we have fleet discounts with MB. I've talked to 3 individuals and they couldn't find any information. But regardless, the manager told me he'll take care of it, and took care of it they did. Another $2k off. Yeah, that was nice

Just took delivery of her earlier today. The car is for my wife so I'm sure she'll be happy... well she better be!

Ive never seen such huge discounts on a new model. This may sway me towards the C400...as it was previously a bit out of my price range.

Thumbs up

For those that are planning to buy a new car, attend a launch party at your local MB dealer if they still have them. MB will issue a $500 appreciation certificate good towards a new car at any MB dealer for attending. I just received my cert via email. Good luck.
