Merlin, were you able to get the spae under the carpet in the boot? Or is it on top, stealing the boot space? Do you have a pic of how you store the space saver spare? Cheers!

I saw this pic of a spare in a w205 C on an Indian website. Not the most elegant solution.

yes 135/80-17

Only put in boot for longer journeys, main reason bought is that I did not want to leave car at tyre depot for repair, spare allows flexibility.

Glyn or Merlin,
Any idea on a part number for the spare tire bag itself? I sourced the tire, and the tool kit from Ebay for a fraction of the MB new price, but no luck on the tie down bag. Cheers

I want to be able to tie it down so that the tire doesn't become a projectile in an emergency stop or event. ****, yes, but something I learned in my 4x4 offroading days. I will do some digging on the UK ebay and see if anything will work

I will see if I can get the part number from the fiche online somewhere. (or whatever you call electronic microfiche)

Australian W205 Spare Wheel.

I would be grateful to know whether the Australian W205 has a real spare ?

Many thanks RustyC , I will save your link.

A big disappointment to me that the 205 has not a full size spare wheel. It is even an option to have a 16" spare !! & the mean B's don't even have a tool kit as standard..

I have had 4 tyre failures in 7 years on country roads , always nice to go to the boot & pull out the trusty full sized wheel. I have read of people having to wait 4 days in a country town for their replacement rare breed run flat to be delivered.

Another example of citicentric thinking .

The runflat tyres will be a pain in the **** too. Always a much harder ride.

The country customers will vote with their feet.

We should make a point to the designers & bolt it to the top of the boot. Just will have to upgrade the struts.

How in gods name are you supposed to fit the supermarket shopping, a drum of diesel, a bag of pool salt & 20 kg of dog kiblets in there?

A lot of manufacturers (german) are going this route. BMW have for years. It saves weight and cost.

Carsy,

I have justed picked up my S205 the other day, guess what? No spare, no tool kit, no jack, no pump kit (like the UK), but in the spot where is spare should be is a folding plastic basket, great. I think this is very poor form from MB, but what do you do.
I have a quote from MB on a "Space saver wheel kit" which was around $800 + GST.
The problem with buying the space saver kit is where do you store it when going on long trips with the back full of luggage?

I have found another option from Repco for around $80. Check out the link.

I will be buy 1 of these kits as an insurance policies for our $h1t Australia roads. Hope I don't ever need it.

Complaint level is high in SA as well. Many BMW owners moved to Benz when BMW dispensed with spare & went RF.

2015 C300 4MATIC
I spoke with TireRack.COM. They had a 135/80-17 tire - but no wheel. The salesperson said to contact Mercedes directly -- and buy the tire from them too (so they can mount and balance)

When I called the dealer (US - New Jersey) [where I picked up my C300 this past weekend] about a wheel and a tire they said they don't have one. That is, they do not sell one. He said I could purchase a wheel for a 2014 C (and tire) and it "should" fit. Alternatively, Mercedes Dealer Parts guy said he could sell me a matching alloy wheel and tire. But then, I would have no room in my trunk.

Does anyone have a part number for the thin / spare wheel and tire for a 2015 C300 4Matic?

Thank you.

This is from the W205 accessory catalog from an overseas market. I was just at a US dealership today, and stopped by the Parts Dept to ask about the bag. They could see it in their system, and even see a price, but said it was unable to be ordered in the US. I am going to get a relative in South Africa or the UAE to order one for me, and bring it back in their luggage.

I did buy a used Mercedes spare on Ebay, that was sized at 135/80-R17. It was from an 06-09 CLK. The rim looked the same as the above, and like it would fit my large front caliper. (I have the Sports package, which I think has larger front calipers? and cross drilled rotors) When it arrives, I will update this thread.

The W204 C Class spare is a 125/90-R16. While it cleared my rear brake caliper, I could not get it on my front. Plus it is 24.9 inches, and my 18 inch tires are 26 inches. The 135/80-R17 is 25.5 inches.

Thank you Nuk for the link.

What else other than the plastic bucket do they have under the boot floor to fill up all that space ? Is there anyway to modify it to fit a full sized spare ?.

No doubt you will enjoy your new S205.
