Piano center console scratches!

Hi all, got my C400 last week and absolutely loving it. Just curious if anyone else who has the center console in the black piano finish noticing that it scratches way too easily without even touching it? Anyway to protect it?

My dealer recommended getting well, Piano polish. Its the same type of gloss and finish as a Piano and it should do the trick.

note that it is "like" piano black finish, not piano black wood like that found on a piano. I am not sure if piano polish would be good...

Try some kind of protection such as Gtechniq C2V3. Any scratches which appear should then just buff off.

Since "piano black" is plastic, not wood, it should be treated accordingly.

Still pondering the physics of this one...

Piano Black is just a name, it is a plastic cover painted with solid black and a few layers of clear.
Treat it as the outer paint on the car.

FYI regarding scratches...
Wanted to get rid of at least some of them and used this after advice from a friend:

http://www.quixx.com/en/products/rep...t-information/

Before using, watched this video that convinced me to try this on my car:

It will not perform miracles (restore to new), but I was really impressed with the results.

Hope this helps someone

Yup, my car has 1500 miles and mine has tons of hairline scratches, and also a few deeper scratches. I have been VERY careful cleaning it. I saturate a new microfiber towel with soapy water, wipe, then wipe to dry with a second new towel. I even waxed it when the car was new. It also sucks I can't rest my hand anywhere due to fingerprints. I'm sure it's going to look like complete crap when I turn the car in at lease end, but oh well. Certainly won't get another car with "piano black" again. Considering wrapping mine in vinyl.

Btw, I highly doubt the console is painted. It's most likely just injection molded plastic.

I think the problem is any sort of cleaning either wet of dry is causing the scratches if pressure is applied.

I keep a microfiber in the door pocket and try to give the console just the lightest of touches every couple of days to keep the dust off and so far it remains scratch free. As for fingerprints I don't often open the centre cover but the car does collect fingerprints around the buttons like media and radio. When I do get a finger print I just concentrate on the finger print and not the wider area around it.
