Door opened by it's self whilst driving
Hi all
New to this forum and thought I'd share my first problem.
Bought the new C Class C220 BlueTec in July 2014 and very impressed with no issues at all...that is until in December.
Coming home one evening, after driving for about 1k (over three speed bumps and out of two 90' junctions), my front passenger door opens by it's self. I mean wide open. Had no dashboard visual or audio warnings and my passenger was on his phone and did not touch the door. Luckily I had a passenger as I do not know what would have happened to the door if I'd been alone as the natural reaction would have been to slow down quickly. Also lucky to not hit a parked car or knock off a cyclist.
Contacted MB and advised them that I'd monitor it and bring it in if it happened again. It did happen again and this time I was the passenger and the door opened to the first latch on the door, so didn't fully open but opened. Booked the car in immediately and was advised that it had been fixed by a software upgrade on the door??? and that it was on their system.
MB service was very good with this problem and handled it professionally, so not slating them but worth knowing about this just in case you suddenly find your door open.

This should be close to impossible with the Benz system. Have them check it out properly. Was the door properly closed in the first place?

possible think that the passenger door was not properly closed and you missed the warning sign if your dash screen set to others instead trip. w202 had a door issue that didn't close properly cause of the joint bolt.
And MB donest have the warnning lamp for the opened doors.

Door was definitely 100% closed on both trips. They've checked it and said that there was a software update for the door. Whether the update was for this issue is not clear.

Its probably something to do with the doors opening in a crash or something like that. A threshold on a sensor not being right causing the door to open.

+1^. The auto unlock from the crash/impact sensor might be faulty or out of calibration.. Have it checked.
This is important because there is a slim chance of an airbag activation.
