Just picked up my car from my dealer. The seats are fixed and they looked great...pretty much factory new. Impressed with how well of a job they did.

They had originally not replaced the portion below and above the rear center console, but thanks to Stan's heads up I knew to ask about this before picking up my car the first time. It only took them 2 additional days to have the remaining parts delivered and installed.

Hopefully this saga is now behind me and I can continue to enjoy the car. Sitting in it again instantly reminded me of how great the car is and how much I like it.

That's how it's supposed to work. Glad your fix turned out so good, and glad my experiences helped avoid another service fiasco.

It got down to about 0 degrees F over the weekend and still no signs on bleeding on my repaired seat covers.

Here are a few pics of the seats after the repair. Looks good to my eye.

Remember all the dire warnings that were posted? Only an experienced upholsterer could possibly do this work, and the hacks at the dealers would leave us with ragged edges, staples sticking out, and poorly fit covers. We would never be able to sell our cars, because it would be obvious that the seat covers had been replaced.

My dealer explained that the covers are all preformed and are simply clipped back into the same places that the old ones were removed from.

The new material will not bleed again. My continued issues were caused by an incomplete replacement of the rear seat components, not because of bad MB-Tex.

Agreed. So when is your car going back for the balance covers? Let's get this saga over with and start enjoying it. Hate to see you give up now since it is a really good car.

Parts are all in, but I haven't made an appointment yet. Hate to totally lose that self-lubricating feature.

Looks perfect, happy for you.

Can i ask if they changed the front seat base covers only (the part you sit on) or did they swap more then the cover? (whole base)

I seem to recall Stan mentioning something about the front seat base cover not being available.

Just the covers.

I think the original issue with the passenger seat had to do with their inability to do some sort of calibration, but they got that part figured out. The sheet from the dealer said they "performed passenger seat WSS seat calibration".

Got it, thanks..

Hope MB will make that particular seat cover available for general consumption so to speak.

Again i think Stan mentioned at an early stage, that these covers were not available, less you bought more or less the whole seat assembly..

The original worry was how to recalibrate the passenger seat occupant weight sensor. If the sensor detects a young child it turns off the airbag.

Individual covers have always been available for Benz cars. e.g. if the drivers side seat shows wear you can just replace that cover.
