Are Keyless Go issues weather related?
The problem with Keyless Go, a problem which many of us have experienced first hand, is that it doesn't always work. It may work fine most of the time, but every once in a while either the door locks or the ignition simply will not recognize the fob. No big issue for the ignition since you can just insert the key, but a major problem if you can't get into your car. Weak batteries are not the cause of this, and there is no known software/firmware update that anyone knows of.
"enmotto" has suggested that this problem, which is very intermittent, can be caused by cold weather. He has seen this issue on other MB products, and has always noted the worst problems came during the winter months, and disappeared when warmer weather came around.
This purpose of this poll is simply to establish if this is a valid theory, or just an observation based on coincidence. Let's find out.
OOPS ... have you HAD, not have you HAS, failures. Darn fingers! Who put that S right next to the D?

Another idea ... has anyone tried unlocking the car with the MBrace app when the car failed to recognize the fob?
For those having issues, is it the same issue with both of your fobs?

The system resets after about a couple of minutes or if I walk away and come back.

In the end it's aggravating but the issue rectifies itself in a minute or 2 and is intermittent. I have more important things to worry about so no sleep is lost over this.

In every instance except two, when I pressed the unlock button on the key, the system would return to normal operation. The 2 exceptions to this were when it decided it could no longer find the key while I was driving! Then it didn't matter how many times I pressed the unlock button - nothing happened until I stopped the car and turned it off and then back on. See photo of me driving 65mph when this happened... yes, that's the key... in the photo...
This was in my 2012 C300 but I had a similar KG problem the very first day I had my 2015 C300...
But spring is only a few months away...
But what's really frustrating is the 2015 S 550 delivered January 29. One out of five times, the key was not recognized by the ignition! I was only locked out once from touch handle, but pushing open on the key, solved that problem. One key had 2.97V, the other 3.01V. New batteries, no difference. Software upgrade was done and keyless start worked flawlessly for two weeks, even though the lead mechanic at the dealership did not think it would make a difference. This morning it was about 15 degrees in the garage and the key was not recognized by the S550 ignition until the open car button was pressed. Battery - 3.03Volts.
But my 2013 SL550, mostly idle winters because it can't get up a slippery driveway with the Bridgestone summer tires-has never a keyless problem weather not withstanding and it has same batteries as when delivered. (I like to drive it winters if my driveway id free of ice and snow and the roads clean.) IT IS VERY COLD IN MINNEAPOLIS, and I think keyless problems are to some extent weather related, but the keyless problems seem to be worse with 2015 model year vehicles. I suspect they have changed something, and its for the worse.
I exited the vehicle, locked and unlocked the car three times (this used to reset the W204, have no idea if it does on the W205) and it stopped the error.

How are you sure it's the car key? Do you have a house key on the same key ring?
I sometimes notice that when i lock the car with the fob i use the double click action accidentally because on my old car this put the car in a safe lock mode.
Then next time i want to enter the car it doesn't respond. So next time yours is not working, think if its the system or the user causing this issue.

My first, early build, C300 had many Keyless Go failures, and I was locked out of the car several times. When that happened, I had to wait a few minutes, and it would somehow reset itself and work normally again. Pressing the unlock or lock fob buttons did nothing.
My replacement C300 has been much better, but I have had some failures. The dealer did find an error code, and applied an update. It still does it once in a while, usually a failure to lock when the door handles are touched, but a simple press of the lock or unlock button now seems to provide a quick fix. I have also had some fob not detected errors and used the fob in the ignition. If that happens, after starting the car with the fob manually, I can shut the car off and the fob will always be recognized and the car will start normally again.
It seems the more dependent on computers these cars become, the more computer-like glitches we have to deal with.
