With stage2 and 4matic, a regular stock C63 shouldn't stand a chance. Going against a C63s would be a much closer match. What the 450/43 loses in HP is made up for with increased traction off the line. I suspect the 450 would pull ahead quickly but the 63s would catch up close to the quarter mile marker.

Would be fun to watch for sure.

It'd be really fun if to watch if the C63 was tuned too, which is a real possibility.

Exactly, Senor J. As a V8 lover myself, the top end of that 4.0 AMG would be hard to match. But on the low end and especially the mid-range - even with my stock 450, where it has some serious punch....I know, having driven that M156'd C63 for a handful of years to compare it with, a tuned 43/450 would probably be long gone. Translation? Go-to-jail speeds in (most often) 4th gear come very quickly; in fact, I need to chill out.

Not to mention, when RennTECH dyno'd the 450 they came back with 375 HP / 398 lb. ft.....so I guess it shouldn't be so surprising @ what, 3800 or so curb weight. And that's, again, stock.

In other words, boosted 3.0 or not, V8 power is V8 power. And anyone that says we don't have V8 performance is just ----ing stupid.

Adios, my brother.

Holy Snarkies am I glad I negotiated the crap out of my purchase.. (got 15% off retail back in Jan 2016)

landed at about 53.5K (63 retail) before taxes and registration.

Pricing now used with 10K seems to be about 46-48K at best..had I paid 63K I would be really peeved at that amount of depreciation in that time frame.

It can't simply be the C43 with the 9T. and really nothing else is changed other than package make up.

C450 AMG
It's really about numbers to me, when I think about the C450 tuned vs a stock C63. The reason being, let's say a C450 amg traps about 108-110 mph stock. With a proper tune, we have seen close to 100 whp gains on some cars correct?

Well, that to me, would equate to roughly 7-10 mph trap speed increases in the quarter mile so the car would be close to the 115-118 range (assuming similar weather conditions when the stock runs were made). I don't know what new the C63 traps, but that tuned C450 amg trap speed is very impressive, especially for a 4 matic based, automatic platform. That means, just mash the peddle and go. Traction really isn't the issue. It would be game OVER for a lot of cars if this thing came with a launch control setting (2 step, clutch slip at say 2800 rpm). I'd guess high 3s to 60 with something like that. With our brake torquing, I'd say tuned C450s get there in about 4.2ish seconds.

You'd surprise a lot of cars on the street at the stop light. From highway rolls, well trap speed suggest the car is capable up top, so you wouldn't get blown away, but the real advantage would be from 0 to say 120 mph. Do you know how hard it is for some of these RWD high horsepower cars to find traction on street tires? You'll see 600-700 hp cars running mid 12s at like 125 because they spin like hell on street tires.

Look at this video...a Scatpack Challenger is rated as 485 hp from the factory, and traps around 113-114...granted it's stage 2 C450 but it walks away from that thing.

You're not wrong, but I think a stage 2 should actually be way quicker. Look at my time slip for only an OE stage 1 tune.... Oh, and I'm just a C400.. These cars are sleepers and become beasts when tuned. I've seen 12.2 for the C63S in the magazines and only recently saw an 11.9 when they added an Alfa Giulia to the comparison.... And it's funny when the wife comes home with my son and says they just whipped a CTS-V, first at a light and then they get on the highway and she takes off on him again! My son's like "I switched it to "sport plus" for mom! Atta boy!

awesome! I have a C43 and my buddy has a C63 (not s) and we want to get them to a track because we are both convinced that on a course the 4Matic kills the 63.

Same here...I got 16% off sticker on my C450 back in June 2016 ($63,600 something sticker price). According to Kelly Blue Book, my car with 6,000 miles on it has a trade in value of a little over $46,000.

Can't say for sure, but I bet it was part of it.

All I can say is compared to the C43, the C450 was a bargain...just about all the performance of a AMG C43 but without the inflated price tag that goes along with the "AMG" name tag.

Agreed. What that big deprecation hit shows obviously is that higher end C Class vehicles are over-priced to what the market will bear.

Personally it would take another 15 - 16% discount off sticker for me to even consider a new C43...that and Apple Carplay...

With a great launch on both (which could have been done much better on this 43), they're pretty much identical to 40. Then they slowly start to separate and by 100 the 63 is adding car length after car length to it's lead as it's really showing it's top end advantage. If the 63 gets a **** launch, it's going to to be playing catchup probably until 60-80mph.

Good news! I got my car back from Dinan yesterday and they have created a piggy back tune using their DINANTRONICS Sport Platform!

The tuner is essentially the boost controller for the masses. Its simple design/execution allows for easy installation/removal that can be performed in a blink of an eye and yields tremendous results. It also has Bluetooth capabilities that allow you to adjust boost from the app on your smartphone.

What I really like about this is that it can actually sit on top of an already flashed ECU! They took my car in with the ESS tune and stacked their tuner on top of the tune. They were able to generate an additional 65.3ftlbs of Torque and 44.18hp. My car put down 372.97hp at the wheel!

I will have a full review and write up posted to the site over the weekend

I've been digging the DINAN tune for a while now (ordered the first day it was available)

Made this video last night.

I don't see why a DINAN tuned C400/450/43 won't keep up with a C63 off the line. It's close enough as it is, adding this makes it about even.. All for $300 (I only paid $270 because I was an early adopter!)

I want a 'real' tune next

Great side by side comparison...
Have you run the 1/4 with it just to see what the times are?
And when you go with a real tune, I strongly suggest OE Tuning!

I have a DINANTRONICS Sport Performance Tuner for 3.0L Turbo Engine for sale and a Sprint Booster Power Converter V3 For Mercedes C-Class W205 each for $270.00, I paid $300+ for each both 2 weeks old no use for it, I have a stage 2 AMR tune so no need for these.

Did the Dinan. Perfect mod. Woke the car up and made a great improvement overall. For $300? Best mod ever.

It would seem they are only selling a more advanced version now. It is around $1300, but supposedly carries some warranty (of which I am suspect).
