quite frankly, in the scenario I described above I seriously doubt any Rule 11 concern would be warranted.

Anyone doing the aftermarket installation or setup would probably simply want to reduce any liability exposure and simply not do the work. There would not be sufficient indemnity for them to proceed.

The manufacture might do it, but they as well may have a policy simply not to.

It will be interesting to see if you can get it.

Ah, your post was ambiguous. My point was that I have no good faith cause of action at present, but your contention goes to perceived liability on the part of who carries out the work. Once again, maybe I don't understand your point, but I've never agreed to indemnify anyone for repairs or modifications and never will.

As for the quantum of risk, I've never used anyone but Mercedes so that is moot as to me; however, it is my experience that a skilled broker can place almost any risk.

Please, no more speculation. My local dealer has no such policy, and has retrofitted complex systems for me without indemnity agreements, or naming and waiving agreements.

I'm in Seattle, and that's close to, but better than my deal. Ask for all weather mats and amg lock pins and you will get them.

The segment is between "normal" cars and very sporty ones and i can understand that some people can view the glass as half empty and other as half filled as we say here.
I have been posting messages in many test reviews to encourage people in europe to read reviews overseas as I think you guys have a better understanding of the segment and potential of this car.

This is said I don't think the forum should focus mainly on tunes and mods, as many people will stick to the stock features which offer already a lot.
whenever i have been in europe, Italy and Germany, most of the cars i would see were very base. Seemed that most of the mercedes we saw had cloth, and few options. much more so than here in the states. im guessing europe has more stripped down versions of cars than we get here??

sounds about right. i got around $3k off on mine. $2,500 of which came from the USAA discount. if you are a MBUSA member, gets you an additional $500 off if you have been a member over a year.

Negotiate harder. Several of us on the forums have gotten sizable discounts. My total discount was around 10% off MSRP (Ohio). I was helped by the $2,000 from United for being an elite flyer. @tivoboy is in Cali and was recently looking at a C450, maybe he would be able to share details of his arrangements and which dealer?

Here in France there is a huge culture of diesel. Times are changing after the VW scandal but the move is slow. I've always been a strong opponent to diesel and was so happy to find all the petrol V6 and V8s during my holidays in Florida ...
So very often reviews are a bit negative when a new non local sporty car is released except for real beasts like Ferrari, Porsche or lomborghinis.
Not true however that cars are less optioned here but tastes are a bit different and I would say a bit more classical (you can't easily sell a red interior or fancy interior trim while it seems bau in the us).

Thanks for sharing. Nice review but I was expecting a bit more technical review especially that you recommended it. It focuses a bit too much about esthetics and not really about engine regime, suspensions, torque etc..
Btw how comes the car has 362hp in U.S. and 367 here in Europe ? Is it a different engine or just a different norm of measure?

I mean in some spots the hp and tq has increased on average 30 whp and over 50 wtq across the band compared to the piggyback tune (not even comparing the stock map). That translates into some serious peppiness on the street. The car gets into more power earlier on, as well as more torque and holds it all the way up... Yes the top end number is barely changed but that's where people make mistakes...its not all about peak...area under the curve is far more important...

This is a picture of the stock dyno vs the OE tune...

Notice you are getting peak +100wtq increase, and roughly +50 whp gains...but when looking at the curve and how power levels matchup throughout the powerband you are getting even more HP throughout the range (in some spots roughly 70 whp increase)...

Again we are only talking numbers...comparing the tune to the numbers tuner cars (Evo/STis) put down on the same dyno shows the car is capable...we will see, a good driver on the track before and after a mod will show the difference. But to give you guys an idea what I am on about, visualize driving your car, and the "get up and go" you feel is at XXXX RPM...analyze the chart keeping in mind you are not only getting more "get up and go" but you are getting it are XXXX-1000 RPMs sooner...Peak stock power is made at what 6000 rpms? That ~260whp is made at 3700 rpms (just getting into the powerband) after the tune...actually very impressive.
The area under the curve does't have much effect in drag racing after first gear. The rpm's never fall below 4200 on each up shift. The big bump in the torque curve occurs at a much lower rpm. This would improve acceleration when moving at lower speeds but I doubt it will make much diff in trap speed in the 1/4.

People have been asking generally for more info on the car itself. I doubt that it's a different engine. It might be due to the gas that is used there. I will enquir more from a few people I know and report back.

Also I have yet to find a good review of someone testing 0-60 with data to back it up. When I find one I will post. I may take the vbox to another users house and get solid numbers.

Congrats. Quick question tho, does your 'born on date' mean when production begins or finishes or is that one in the same? I'm not sure how long it takes to build a C450 but my production date is 12/8 with delivery in 6 weeks*.

*still waiting to hear from my dealer about my C450 being shipped on water.

Fine power band is not affected in 1/4. But it will take in affect 1/3 mile and 1/2 pulls. Nobody stop racing another car cuz one reaches 1320' Real world power.

50 awhp considered low to around here, Will make a difference at any track... Period.

That should shave .5 seconds and trap atleast 5 mph higher than stock

50 awhp peak power increase is nothing to be ashame of.. 70 awhp across sections of the power band is great with just a tune.

For those of you interested. We should have most of the stage one tunes review by the end of January followed by a exhaust upgrade and possibly an inter cooler upgrade (if I can find one) and then we will move on to stage 2 tunes. I'm really really interested to see what happens.

Originally they thought it would start, but i was told yesterday that it would be complete on the 9th.

when we did the tour thru the plant in germany, they said start to finish was 4 days.

very strange on your 6 week delivery. seems too long for alabama, but too short from germany (if you were getting a non us made vehicle). so not sure why they would tell you that. perhaps there is a california emission testing that has to be done.

strange they cant narrow that down over there. wonder if it would have been faster for you to order and pick it up in germany and take that nice drive back home to france.
