Still trying to decide myself if I want the Night Package or not on my white build...thinking I'm going to need to go see it in person at the dealership to decide. I like both for different reasons.

That looks perfect to me. Are you planning on using any preventive leather protector to minimize staining or color transfer?
#1334
Not planning on using any preventive leather protector at the moment...keep in mind I am coming from an Evo so this luxury is new to me! ...With that being said I find myself looking at tuning and exhaust options as next on the list : )

Managed to only get 6% off mine.. It was the first in the region with red interior, so their rationale was that it was such a high demand car that they couldn't do any higher. The manager also said they would only be making $100 from the car anyway, and had it been a C450 with black interior (they had 6 of those) or a C300, it would be easy to get over 8%
they gave me 2k off...

My C450 Is Here
I have been having some health problems lately so I haven't been posting, but I am about to feel much better today when I pickup my C450!!!It is iridium silver with black leather interior.I was at the dealer and gave it the "once over" and it is beautiful.I will update with driving observations periodicaly.
I have been reading posts of those who already have their C450 and it looks everybody is very happy with their choices.I already know I will be satisfied with mine.

Yes, not too many people have gone for the high priced interior (sports seats, Designo Leather) plus the higher price electronics (multi media, park assist, drivers assistance). You'll love it I'm sure if you get it all, but it would be one of the more expensive builds on here.
Also with regards to ordering the car, the dealer won't know the incentives available to them or you at the time of purchase (when it arrives). as inheartwetrust noted, they can still negotiate off of MSRP and what they pay for the car. This early on there may not be any incentives on the car, but you can try to negotiate a discount from MSRP plus any available incentives, but should reasonably go in not hoping for other incentives..

A quick introduction . . . I'm an older guys who likes to drive nice cars. I started driving BMWs in the mid-80s and have owned six 5 Series from an '84 528e to a '13 M5 (all sticks). I also currently drive a 911 GTS for my summer fun. A few years ago, I fell in love with the size, agility and overall driving experience of the Audi S4 (with optional sport diff). I love the car but I have an itch to scratch and I may not want to wait for the new B9 model.
So I've been watching the new C class and this forum for a year now. Last fall, I test drove a C400 and it didn't do it for me. Then I was hoping for C63 4Matic, but... I recently rented a C300 for about a week while on vacation in California. I didn't expect to be overwhelmed by the car and I wasn't, but it was a very nice car for what it was. Yesterday, I drove the C450 and was very pleasantly surprised. I'm going back today for a longer drive. But I do have a couple of questions that I hoped you all could help with . . .
I can't quite get my head around, or find detail on, the C450's 4Matic system. Those who know the S4 with its trick sport diff know it makes for an amazing handler. But all I can determine about the C450 is an approximate 33/67 rear-biased torque split. I know that there is some side-to-side rear torque vectoring via the braking system. But is there any variability in the powered torque split front-to-back or side-to-side?
And a much simpler question (I think) . . . with the optional 19" wheels, are the tires summer performance or all-seasons? Also, are they run-flats?
Thanks for your help.

I cannot help you too much with the 4-matic system. Even the owner's manual does not provide additional information.
You are correct the second question is much easier. The 19" wheels are equipped with Pirelli P-Zero Summer Performance Tires. Yes, they are run flats. I just purchased a winter tire package from TireRack. If you are interested in the package I purchased it is on post #1283 on page 51.

I listed below a few tid-bits from the MBUSA website associated with the 4-matic & ESP:
AMG performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive
AMG has developed a version of 4MATIC® that obliterates every notion concerning the performance potential of all-wheel drive. A 33:67 front/rear torque split assures an ideal balance of power delivery under hard acceleration and coming out of corners. In the Sport handling mode of the multistage ESP®, Torque Vectoring Brake further helps to prevent unwanted understeer. In every driving condition, AMG 4MATIC enhances grip and acceleration while preserving agility and driving fun.
DYNAMIC SELECT
In any season, on any road, 4MATIC® all-wheel drive adds to your confidence and control. Always engaged and optimizing torque to every wheel, 4MATIC integrates with ESP®, our standard Electronic Stability Program, for maximum effectiveness in corners and slippery conditions. It also incorporates our 4-wheel Electronic Traction System (4-ETS®), which monitors for the first sign of wheel slip and responds to ensure torque is sent to the wheels with the best grip, even if that's only one wheel.
Multistage Electronic Stability Program (ESP®)
Multistage ESP offers two settings: With ESP On, detected instability results in braking intervention at one or more wheels, plus a reduction in engine torque, to help rotate the car back onto the driver's intended course. The "ESP Off" mode allows for higher drift angles in performance driving, raising the brake-intervention and torque-reduction thresholds.

Yes, the USA site has too much Flash, not enough details.
I cannot find the (281) AMG Performance Steering Wheel in the C450 packages or build options.
I am looking at C450 or B9 S4 (long wait), but I would probably need to order the C450 to get loaded options & without the Panorama roof.
Are the 18" all season tires also run flat?

2016 C450 (on order)
The model I'm getting next week has the 18 inch five spoke wheels. Going to be in the market soon for some 19s. Has anyone heard of these wheels? Are they decent quality? The price seems right.

I spent more time in the car today but stumped most of the sales people with my 4Matic question until they found their resident "car guy" who explained clearly the system in the C450. Here's what I learned.
The car has three open diffs, one each in the front, center and rear. There's no quattro-like torsen mechanical diff that opens and closes to distribute power. Rather, the C450's 4Matic uses the ESP's system to brake one, two or three wheels as it detects excessive spin. When braking is applied, the open diffs naturally (rather than mechanically) push more torque to the wheel or wheels that are not spinning (and that are not having braking applied). The "car guy" claimed that this open diff/braking system can send up to 90% of torque to any single wheel.
All that makes sense. I think that purists think that distributing torque directly is better than using the brakes to retard torque, but my guess is that most of us will never perceive any difference in real-world driving conditions.
