The German website destroys the pathetic MBUSA configurator. My only debate was with the design white/black seats. I like the designo seats but with a white leather door handle may not be such a good idea. Plus the misses likes the black better too.
I also opted for Garmin Nav versus the multimedia package. I do not need to be surfing the web while I am driving. I just need a NAV and my Sirius XM radio and I am good to go. I passed on the panoroof since I have skin cancer issues and the regular LED headlights are fine and better than what I am used to now.
I thought about the designo sport seats but when I found out they where $4000.00 I went with the regular sport seats. Plus, they only come in saddle brown or white inserts. Neither fit my color combination.

I'm still trying to figure out the 318 without 401...
The designo packages without the AMG Performance seats also come with 401:
Here was the build that I saw with the heated/vented seats:
<SNIP>
It sounds like there is at least one other non-performance seat option that also includes 873 instead of 401.
Thanks for those details. Hoping a new order guide or the details get published on the US site to configure soon. I'll need to find one of the seat options with the ventilated seats to keep the wife happy....

That is certainly priority one.
I am going to the dealer tomorrow to look at their C63 S Edition 1 that they just got, I wanted to get a good look at the designo leather & performance seat combo. I'll see if I can figure out the different vented seat options.
I finalized the deal yesterday on a new C450 equiped as follows:
C450 amg 4matic-51725(includes transportation)
Iridium siver-$720
Black leather #251(no red stitch or seatbelts)-2880
Lindenwood-325
Multimedia pkg-2690
Hands free pkg-250
Total msrp-58590
Price w/3% discount-56832
September delivery
Congratulations to all who ordered. I'll likely be ordering in the not-to-distant future.
I noted a few posts said one of the ordering guides indicated that 318 included
401 : Heated and Ventilated Front Seats
But the posted orders list 318 as having
873: Heated Seats
So, does it seem like ventilated is not an option on any of the seats?
FWIW. If the MB ventilated seats operate like the ventilated seats I have on my BMW 535 here are my observations:
The amount of ventilation is barely noticeable and barely useful
The increase in seat cushion hardness is quite noticeable.
I got the sport seats without ventilation on my X5 because I prefer the seat comfort vs. the minimal ventilation. If the C450 seats are available either way I would try the ventilated ones before I ordered them.

Did the 318 Interior Package ($2880) come with 401 heated/vented or 873 heated only seats?

Yes the interior pkg includes the heated & ventilated seats. The dealer explained that the 251 leather option is a no cost option, but you must order the 318 interior pkg to get the 251 leather.

Z28 I don't know this for sure but it appears that the only interiors with both heated and ventilated seat options are the interior selections on page 13 of the DOG that include:
251 - Black Leather
267 - Cranberry/Black Leather
268 - Crystal Grey/Black Leather
I am envious of those of you getting one of these fine autos. For me I simply could not justify the large price delta on a lease between the two based on historical Mercedes treatment of C400.
I placed order today for $57,000 BMW 340i x-drive that is pretty well loaded for about $1000 over invoice.

I hear you, and to each their own, but for me, I'm going for the C450. If I'm spending that kind of coin on a car, I don't want any buyers remorse, I prefer to spend a few grand more and be happy. I'm a BMW guy, but I can't get over the stunning interior of the C450, and my head would hurt every time I sat in the BMW. I'm sure the 340xi will be a magnificent performance sedan, and may even be faster than the C450, so enjoy it, you owe none of us an apology. This will be my first Mercedes, and I'm looking forward to it

If I was writing a check for the car I would have picked the C450. With a lease, pendulum swings too far towards BMW. Performance on both should be outstanding and I anticipate numerous head to head comparisons early next year.
If Mercedes had delivered CarPlay it would have been just enough to tip me over but the BMW has Siri assist and that will be good enough this go round.

I am surprised you didn't wait to see how the C450 lease would compare. I know you use the C400 as a base, but MB has stated that they are going for market share with the C450, and I would be very surprised if the C450 doesn't have better residuals than the C400. Actually, I've heard through the grapevine that it will definitely lease better than the C400, though most likely not as good as the BMW, but pretty close.

That is possible. Timing on my current lease running out was not good for waiting to get real numbers and do a more direct comparison, I also had some lingering doubts on reliability out of the Alabama plant.
If I could have tolerated going without a car till the end of the year I would have done a direct bake off.

I c, are you saying then that the 340xi will be available a lot sooner? I wonder why then MB is allowing the 340 to come to market ahead of the C450, considering that the C450 was unveiled from January, and had its introduction to the auto journalist from March, I think. Have you heard when BMW will host its drive event with the auto journalist? I'm curious

340xi first batch went into production this week. Don't know what is going on with Mercedes they are probably working any gremlins out of the C450 before expanding production outside of Germany.
My lease is up in August on my 328xi. I can extend a month or two but if I wait till I can drive both c450 and 340 in September and then order a car the soonest I have it is November.

It's a normal production cycle, MB isn't allowing BMW to do anything. The two cars and companies have nothing to do with each other. Both cars will be in showrooms in the fall, what difference does make who is there first?

Even though you are switching sides , thanks for all the useful information that you provided. Your thread and link regarding the 1.0 dealer order guide being available got the ball rolling for me and I put the full-court press on my sales rep to get my build in the queue.
I don't think you can go wrong with either vehicle it is just personal choice. I think the timing will work-out better for you since you need a vehicle by the end of August. It sounds like Labor Day is about the earliest a C450 will be delivered. I have been an M-B guy for over 11 years and the M-B Princeton has been the nicest people to deal with in sales and service so I am hooked for life.
Let us know how you like the BMW once you are behind the wheel. I will keep you posted when my new scooter arrives in September.

Before I am locked in on my C450 order, I am debating the standard (632) LED Headlamps versus the (319) lighting package. Most threads say go for the $800 Lighting package. I have almost maxed-out the vehicle with options and should go for it if it is going to make a big difference. If the lighting is significantly better than $800 is a small price to pay for better vision but if it id gimmicky then why waste the money. Anyone familiar with the 2 lighting options?

My familiarity is limited to the videos. It doesn't give you more light, but redistributes it according to traffic conditions. Therefore, you maintain optimum illumination on the side of the road when following another vehicle and you maximize illumination in your lane even when there is oncoming traffic. Well worth it IMO. Unfortunately, I believe the 319 package does not include this feature in the U.S., but it is available in the UK.

Thanks again for the useful information. The YouTube video was helpful. The DE website video was also helpful but unfortunately I do not speak Deutsche.
For the relatively small option price it the lighting package seems well worth the cost. Almost every order posted on C450 MBWorld.org discussion includes the package so I emailed my sales rep to add it today. Do you order a C450? Any word on the surround view package. It appears the German built cars have the surroundview package. M-B Tuscaloosa ought to get with the program.
