Lots of valid questions and only subjective answers.
I thought the four felt and sounded like a joke.
I traded a 2011 c300 sport for my c450 and love it.
It's not as smooth and luxurious as my wife's 2015 gls 400, but it goes like a Scalded dog.
My cranberry leather seats are amazingly comfortable.
Comfort provides a decent ride on Seattles lousy streets and sport plus, tried only for short spurts, still provides a decent ride.
I didn't want a body larger than a C and I wanted a real engine.
It's an amazing car and I highly recommend it, though the ride will be harsher and louder than your S.

2016 C450
Your age? I don't think age should matter. I thought long on hard about getting the C63 myself, but, in the end, the C450 was just the more sensible purchase for me. Living in Western Canada with 6 months of winter, and this car being my daily driver, the C63 would just be too much. I absolutely love the C450, even though I wish the exhaust sound was more aggressive

I get that you don't like the 4 in the 300. And yes, this is a C450 thread, but maybe show some consideration to those not fortunate enough to own a C450 and not call our engine a "joke." It's actually a very capable and nicely done twin turbo. And maybe remember that not everyone needs more horsepower to enjoy a Mercedes.

Greetings All!
So my 2010 S550 is in the shop for a blown strut and a bad cluster. The strut is on national backorder so I'm in a base C300 loaner. I've had it for a week now and I have to say the little bugger is growing on me. I've found myself thinking, if it had a better engine (the turbo four just sounds crude to me) and better equipment and finishes, I could see myself in this car. For what I'm paying monthly on the S Class I could go pretty deep into a nice new C.
Naturally, I go right to the configurator looking for the "best" C Class, and I think the C450 fits the bill. Honestly a C300 loaded up and with the AMG sport appearance package probably would do it, but I can't do that 4 banger. Where's a NA 6 when you need one? The C63 seems like overkill (which I guess is the point) and I like some comfort in the seats. Those AMG Performance seats make my back ache just looking at them.
You guys that have a 450, how is the ride quality on the various suspension settings? Which setting do you most commonly use? How many of you use this as your DD? Still love the car or has the novelty started to wear off? Thanks in advance for any replies.

While it's definitely the cream of the crop, it doesn't have that sporty feel that you get with this c450. Overall it's comparing apples and oranges. But a complete different driving experience. I feel the S has certainly developed the big cushy feel, especially that 07-10 time period
So far I think you really feel the road and punch of the engine on the C450. I left an Audi A6, and that was more cushy than the new c450. But I wanted something smaller and something that had some umph to it
juat my opinion and input on the two

I have had quite a bit of driving experience with the S class. My father has had quite the car addiction since I was young. Unfortunately, one trait I have started to inherit. He has never had the amg version of the S, but has had all the body styles that I could remember.

Whatever I'm driving, I just want it well executed. The S is a well executed luxury sedan. I need to decide if, for me, the C450 is a well executed compact sport sedan. Looking forward to finding out!

It's definitely peppy and responsive but I'm having trouble modulating the throttle smoothly. Very aggressive tip-in. I like it best in Comfort, with first gear out of the equation. That and the exhaust note under power is not especially pleasant. I'd rather hear a lot less if it but of course it's working harder than the six would for the same output.

I think you're still referring to the C300? If you are, I would have to wonder if the software that controls shift points on the car you've had has been reprogrammed? There is a software update for this. I find driving in sport to be very pleasant and the driving dynamics to be sporty enough. At least for my needs.

That isn't to say I wouldn't have loved to get a C450. I certainly would have. But then, I would have had to shave so many options I found more important than the Twin Turbo 6 in the 450. It's all a matter of trade-offs for anyone who buys a new car. At least it was for me.

True. It's pretty much comparing Apples and Broccoli. I went from an E350 Coupe with the nice smooth 302hp V6. My first fear was that the 241 Twin Turbo 4 would be disappointing. It's not. In fact, with most of the HP available at 1300 RPM, it's more spirited in many ways.

I hear ya. If I could learn to love the 4 I'd save a bunch of money, because from a performance standpoint it's fine. It's the sound that I think would get on my nerves. Luckily I'm in the worlds longest test drive. With the parts delay on the S plus the holidays I'll have the 300 thru the new year to get adjusted to.

I suspect you can well afford a C450 with the nicer options. I could have gotten a C450, with few options. For me, it made more sense to option out a C300 and add the sport package, interior package (with leather), Burmester, Multi-Media, Lighting, Keyless Go and I've got a really nice car.

I do not use it as my DD, it's my town car w the wife and when I drive to the gym. I use a workvan for work everyday and a Honda accord for long distance commutes for interstate sales and business.
The ride is stiff no matter what setting you have it on. However I prefer it as stiff as it can be though so it worked out

I honestly don't think it matters if you drive in comfort, sport or sport + as long as you didn't push the RPM higher than 4000. You likely didn't do anything to your car. And even if you pushed RPM a bit, you still didn't likely do anything to hurt that engine.

AMG cover badge
The story continues with the adventure of finding the AMG badge of the C63 ashtray cove. ![word](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/werd.gif)
I went to MB detailing and I have the confirmation that the badge existed as a separate item but MB stopped selling it.
If anyone of you can find it in the US I will be happy to buy it from you.
Here are the details and parts number. It is item 125.

I've never inspected the C63 console emblem in person so I don't know if there is a curvature but I'll see it soon at the dealer when I pick up my 450.
Otherwise good luck on your hunt.

2016 C450 AMG
Just passed 1000 miles this weekend
I've been pretty good at just driving around with engine in comfort or eco mode. But now I get to be a bit more obnoxious!
