C450 AMG Sport discussion only.
I am unsure whether to get 18" rims + tires for the winter, total cost probably $1,200 (Blizzak WS80 + MSW Type 86 rims) or so, or to just take my existing four and get just all season or winter tires, cost probably $800 or so.
Can anyone offer me some advice here? Also curious about having to fork out for a whole other set of TPMS or just re-use existing ones?
Also I am concerned with having to carry a spare, are your Michelin X-Ice runflats?
So if you've got your new C450, but haven't posted your photos, now is a great chance!
Thanks!
On Saturday, I had my local mechanic attempt to install the winter package. The TireRack 18x8 rims fit the the back wheels fine but the the fronts interfered with the steering knuckle.
TireRack engineering guru will call me back on Monday. I think my best option is purchase the ~$3K M-B OEM rims since I plan on keeping the car at least 10 years. I definitely do not want to add a spacer to the fronts with the TireRack rims and prefer not to change-out my summer tires with the Pirelli Sottozero III non-run flat tire on the 19" rims. I would not keep a spare since the fronts and rear rims/tires are different sizes. Ughh!!Is anyone aware of a modestly priced rim manufacture that will fit the staggered dimension of the C450?

I plan on getting 18" rims with offsets around 35mm for the front. It is still no guarantee they will fit. The style/design also comes into play. I will also go with a spare (and a slime kit). The compact spare would go on the back wheels, so if a flat in front you need to do 2 changes.

It would be nice to get an accurate list of wheels that fit, for anyone that wants to go that route.

My Moda 18x8 with 45 offsets did not work too well with TireRack but they appear anxious to fix the problem. I am curious if TR can locate 18x8 rims with 35 offsets for the front and 18x8 45 offset for the rears. I will keep y'all posted.
Thanks
You might be able to find these in the classified forums (being sold by a C63 owner that was planning a custom wheel).
Secondly, for whatever reason I'm agonizing over color. I love the contrast with the pano roof and the cranberry interior and those 19th multi-color wheels.
Normally I'd just go white here but my last car was white. It does look killer though.
I'm thinking Iridium but I can't for the life of me find any pictures of this combo, especially with with the doors open from the outside to see how the red/silver work together. Anyone have any or have seen any? I've scoured autotrader but few 450 pics so far and none like this.
Cheers,
Pete
