I believe the C class rear view camera does this already. What does this do that the original camera doesn't?

Reversing camera is an option in some markets I think.

That closing door is really handy. My previous car had a reversing camera but the rain always collected on it due to the shape. An then there was the spray. On the plus side it was instantaneous though unlike the W205 which takes a couple of seconds before the image appears.

Ahhh gotcha. I thought that this was a replacement for the camera with some extra functions.

OEM rear-view camera

My W205 rear-view camera has a protective door. A good thing, too. Without the door, the camera would be useless after a few miles on winter roads. The air flow around the rear of my C3004MATIC causes road dirt and salt spray to accumulate in the rear license plate area. My rear-view camera lights up as soon as I shift into reverse - no more than half a second.
Of course, if you didn't get the OEM rear-view camera, then you need an aftermarket camera.

The folding camera is one my favorite features on the W205. It`s the small things that count!

Living in Atlantic Canada, roads are covered in salt and dirt from late November to April, meaning that rear view cameras get dirty and useless in no-time, unless they are hidden away . Every vehicle should have folding rear view cameras!

After 16 months and two winters, I have never cleaned my rear view camera lens. It remains as clear as when new.

took me a couple of months before i realized our camera's were hidden. my dad's VW Golf has a hideaway camera too, but it's so loud that you can clearly hear the mechanism that flips the VW badge open and closed every single time. i cant hear ours at all

I was also surprised with the camera placement. Then watched a video and it looks like something out of a Bond movie (except it's a camera and not a gun that shoots your pursuers).
