Today my dealer told me, that Brabus released power kit for C250 / C300

Its +25kW/50Nm. Sounds great, I am going to order one.

Hope it will be nice upgrade

Also note the Brabus Control Unit to deactivate the Start/Stop function (item code 000-660-00) - I know several posters have expressed their irritation at not being able to make it OFF as a default.

Is this something the dealerships can even install? Or do I have to find a Brabus approved/partnered shop for this?

Title says it is for C300 as well. But I do not see one listed. Even Brabus USA says they are yet to come up with a box for C300. Am I missing something ??

Is this something that would need a professional install or is pretty plug-n-play?

From what I know, it is plug N play if you know what you are doing ! I had installed a RaceDynamic Dieseltronic box in my old car about 5yrs back. Shouldn't be difficult for anyone since I am close to nothing when it comes to car ecu and DIY compared to others here in the forum.

I was quoted 2 hours mercedes workshop time to fit, which is obviously pricey, but perhaps required to retain some warranty.

I was going to try work on them for a better price because I beleive it's an easy DIY job.

I never understood why would anyone be excited about 25 extra kw (+50 nm), what does it actually give you, 0.5 second faster 0 to 60 mph, and a 10 mph higher top speed?
I would personally go for a tune (or two) that will result in least a 100 kw extra.
Not sure about the rest here (of course we're still talking about petrol cars, diesel is less interesting, and more complicated).

This is tuning. There is a limit on how much you can do with a piggyback tune, it is the least effort/most gain for the money, yeah .5 secs gain is good enough for most folks.

IMO no power increase from an aftermarket tune is worth it unless it's a safe tune. The most important aspect to me for an aftermarket tune is a nice safe A/F ratio throughout the powerband.

For instance, Cobb "out of the box" tunes from their AccessPorts were safe tunes...backed up with dyno result comparisons between stock and their Stage 1 or 2 tunes...COMPLETE with A/F results which were usually better & safer for the engine than the lean stock A/F curves (lean for emissions).

I'd be interested in a "Piggyback" plug n' play unit from this Manufacturer, even better if Mercedes would install it AND still warranty my car, but unless they can at least show actual dyno results showing it's a safe tune for my model car....I wouldn't take the risk installing their product on my new $50,000 plus car unless backed fully by Mercedes Benz.
