It's more noticeable if the fan speed is set quite high.
So I asked this question to my product trainer (by the way I work for a dealership in Malaysia) and the reason given is to pay homage to the olden cars, to invoke heritage and so on. The actual reason I guess might be to place the GPS receiver, phone antenna etc in the bigger one. Hope this helps!

Here's how it works:
1)Approach the car's trunk with two arms full of groceries.
2)Flail your foot around the underside of the bumper pointlessly for several seconds.

I use it every day when I have my work bag in one hand and gym bag in the other. A long swipe under the car works better than a kick.

Is there anyway to connect the Benz to a wifi network? I notice that the method you suggested uses Bluetooth tethering and that isn't an option my phone allows. (long story, work phone and blocked by work but I have a wifi hotspot device)
I'm not aware of allowing the w205 connecting to another Wi-Fi hot-spot.
Just another thought if your work has disabled Wi-Fi tethering.
Connect your device via USB cable to access internet.
what device do you have?
