I just turn on personal hotspot sharing on my iPhone and the car connects through bluetooth.

Go to the comand screen go to vehicle and system settings find WiFi and follow directions to connect.
You can read about wifi setup starting on page 38 of the Comand section.

I'll need to check that out for myself as well, not much of a "tech guy" but can usually figure stuff out

I'm due for a new phone (not sure if my old phone can set up a hot spot), this is a good excuse to get one !!

If one were to pull up to an establishment with free Wi-Fi, can you use it from the parking lot assuming you are close enough to receive the signal?

A new phone might help with compatibility. Had that problem with my 2014 and a new phone made the difference with my bluetooth connection. But I didn't have wifi on that car.

Not sure what you are talking about with regards to connecting from an establishment. The car is its own hotspot so it depends on Verizon to receive an internet signal not an establishment.

Right now for the last few days I can connect to the car but I don't get an internet connection. In other words on my phone it says "connected, no internet". I have had no problems since I picked up the car from the dealer in Feb. So I am calling mBrace today to see what is going on. This could be just a local Verizon problem.!!!

What I mean is if you pull your vehicle up to a Hooters, Starbucks, Bookstore, etcetera that offers free Wi-Fi to their guests, could you log in to the Internet using that Wi-Fi signal?

Silly question. Why do you need to connect the internet? What functionalities require internet specifically.

It might be a silly question, I haven't started reading about the COMAND unit yet other than learning to set the GPS

I have the Premium 3 Package which has the "mouse" over the "wheel" on the center console

I see the Internet icon in the top right corner of the COMAND screen and assumed that was used to connect to the Internet (again, I have not looked into it and also for what it's worth I'm not a "tech-guy")

My thought was I could connect to the Internet and use a browser just like I would do on my phone or computer. I thought that was the subject matter

I have used it in the past but find it slow and irritating...by the way every C Class has that mouse over the wheel.

Not true...I've had two different 2017 loaners with the wheel only, no mouse control.

Also, all COMAND cellular connections are at 3G speeds...no 4G chips installed.
