Airmatic Agility Suspension.... who has it?

I absolutely love this feature, its brilliant.. however the other night when I reversed into the garage at home I got out of the car while the engine was still running and could hear a slight ticking noise coming from each of the wheel area's... is this an airmatic thing.. it doesn't bother me at all.. But as this is my first vehicle with airmatic I just wanted to make sure.

This is normal when the car is adjusting its height with airmatic

Oh ok, so I am guessing my situation isn't normal then.
Car was parked and I wasn't raising or lowering it.. not unless it starts to auto adjust itself once you put it in park? (It was in comfort mode (not raised) at the time of parking it.

I bet it was adjusting because you exited the car. The agility package keeps the car level and since the weight in the driver's seat changed, the system adjusted to keep the car level.

I can confirm the above. After four people and two dogs exited my car yesterday I locked it and while walking away it ticked and hissed a little as it settled level.

Ok on further investigation the ticking noise is actually coming from the underneath, centre of the car, which appears to only do it when stationary, when in Park. When in drive with the brake applied it doesn't seem to do it.. I tested the theory tonight and got out of the car and left it running for a full 10 minutes and it made the same patterned ticking noise... my intial thought was it sounded like hot metal expanding sort of thing... not sure of the easiest way to upload a video/audio file of it.

Living 600kms from a MB dealership.. I obviously don't want to make a trip for nothing...

You aren't talking about the ticking noise from the direct injection engine are you?

I have it and it's amazing, on the country roads on my way to work "84 calaveras" for those in the bay area. Wow, better than my previous BMW and the CLA.

BTW, no noise to complain about from airmatic

I am with you on that... simply the BEST option ever.. the ride is stunning on every road surface... the same roads in my BMW F30 were a nightmare on comfort and cabin noise.

Apart from potholed or sharp ridged surfaces where there is a notable thump/non compliance.

Cant say I have noticed that... maybe the potholes around here aren't as violent.
My BMW used to feel like a cattle truck on a dirty road

I have it and echo the sentiments here. It's a great feature. Truly makes a difference in the ride. I came form a BMW f30 and with airbalance this is smooth. No ticking noise. I do notice that sometimes after a day or two the system does reset even if I don't make any changes to agility.

Its very smooth and floaty on smooth roads or even slightly rough ones. But drive over a manhole cover thats a little sunk or raised and it results in a thud through the car. All the reviews mention it as a down side to AirMatic. 19" run flats on mine don't help.

Turn your volume up (its a diesel haha) to hear this short video of the ticking noise... doesn't sound serious, but doesn't sound right either..

Still not sure whether or not I am over-reacting?

That loud thud throughout the whole car is pretty much all directly related to the 19" RFTs. It was a huge problem with the E9X BMWs as well and lead to a very big "pothole explosion" thread on Bimmerfest many years ago. I've experienced the same thing in my E92 and now with the C400 on 19" RFTs and no airmatic. You'd think by now with RFTs being so heavily used over the last several years they'd find a way to help compensate the thud. Oh well...
