The positives are:
1) Faster engine
2) Good mileage in general
3) At least trying to help the environment although admittedly a very long way to go
4) Owning kind of a unique model that not everyone else will have

Now I drive more like 20000 miles per year, so it effects me a bit more than your calculation, but I've never really thought I would be getting a pay back on gas savings on any Hybrid I have owned. To me it's just a different engine choice for whatever reason you want.

By the way, anyone know how long it will take the Alabama plant to ship it up the eat coast once you have the VIN number?

Hello there.
I don't know if you fixed the problem you mentioned about the message 'connection temporarily not available' in Connect.
I have succeeded in making it work. I use an iPhone, and it works if in Settings you activate the option "PERSONAL HOTSPOT". You then have to connect the car to your phone.

They now said the release in the USA has been delayed till July. My car has already been built and shipped to a holding lot, so I hope it is released to the dealer sooner than that. They sure are dragging this one out... And it is still a 2016 model..

Wow -- are 2016s even going to be built long enough so that you can still order a 2016 after they're released, or does that mean that if you wait until they're released (and thus until you can negotiate an actual price), you'll be ordering a 2017, which will take even longer?

On paper the 2017's will probably take the place of the 16 orders in the Sept time frame or so, but the 2017's will likely drag out slow as molasses just like these have. Mercedes isn't interested in selling volumes of these cars. This is just a limited test release to only certain states. Bottom line though is that right now for instance, I'll get a 2016 delayed model that on paper has about a month or two of model year life in it before the 2017 will take its place. And the worst part is there is no normal model year end discount. Your basically paying close to full price for a limited run tail year end car. of well ... such is life.. Still looking forward to it, if it ever is released from hold. Wish I knew what was holding them up though.

Dealer sheet now says Feb '17 for the release.

I've decided to go ahead and order a C300 rather than wait and try to wrestle a car out of them that they obviously aren't interested in selling. As far as the holdup, I haven't found anybody at a dealer who will even speculate. The fact that the MPG is still listed as XX/XX on the website is possibly relevant, but drawing any conclusions would be reading tea leaves.

No wonder there are still so many gas gusslers on the market. They just don't want fuel efficient cars to take hold I guess ...

question on your 350e

hi I wundered if you can answer a few questions about your c class prem+ 350e estate with towbar.

I have ordered the same as you with the tow bar, when I added the tow bar it said that it had removed comfort access and keyless start. is this correct, as I understand with the tow bar the auto opening of the boot with your foot might not work, but the keyless entry and start button seems a bit stupid that adding a tow bar would re move these features ?

Thanks,

Adrian.

Unhappy Trye wear

I'm back again.

I have just done 10,000 miles in my C350e, the rear tyres are getting low and I have just been told that they are likely to last another 1500 miles or so, so that means I am getting 12000 miles per year on the rear tyres, the front tyres are fine. Can this be right, I know the battery is heavy but only 12000 miles, ummmm. I am not using the car like a sports car so it isn't that.

That seems really low mileage for tire wear.

By the way the USA 2016 350e's still haven't shipped and they are now saying mid July. then one month later production of the 17's start. This seems absurd to me.

edit: 17's Feb 17 now.

Been driving my C350e for over 20000km with winter tires in a relative warm winter (so the softer rubber wears more than usual) and i have a fairly sporty driving style, but no excessive wear as you mention.
The extra weight shouldn't cause any excessive wear.

tyre wear

In fact I have just done over 9000 miles, so it is really bad. I will get it checked, I have been told that the tyres I have are quite soft so that may have something to do with it but they did come standard with the car. I also have extra weight with the sun roof forgot to mention that so I have 18 inch tyres, which if I remember I had to have because of the extra weight of the sun roof.

It will be interesting to see what Mercedes have to say, no doubt I will be blanked until I cause a fuss but then I mustn't pre-judge!

What they can do about it is another thing, I did read an article somewhere that people are complaining about tyre and brake wear on hybrid cars but not specific to Merc, don't know about the brakes yet.

That should be covered under the tire warranty. That's just ridiculous wear.

I noticed this thread "rear camber correction" in this W205 section. Maybe that is the cause.

tyre wear

Well I have now been told by a Mercedes dealer that for a C350e around 11,000 miles is to be expected from the rear tyres, my tyres are continental 225/45 18 Y XL, so the 18" wheels as I have the sunroof. The tyres are around £140 each, so every 6 months that will be a cost to be picked up, don't know about the front tyres yet but they seem ok at the moment. Bring on the Tesla.

USA c350e release date seems to have been delayed again till mid August or later due to waiting for certifications that never seem to come. Now the 2016 release is on top of the 2017 production so I'm not sure if they will merge the model years or not.

Does anyone here have a spec c350e on order in the USA? Any other info that you've been told and could share? Or am I the only one?

I covered around 22000 miles before my original Hankook rear tyres wore down to 2mm and were replaced with Goodyear equivalents. Fronts still have plenty of miles left.

The maximum range is heavily depending on the weight of your right foot.
Mine should be able to reach 31km but it mostly indicates around 20km. I managed once to reach 33km but i had to drive like an old lady and keep the speed as constant as possible. My normal range is between 15 and 20 km depending on temperature and drive style.
Try to use your pre conditioning. This also heats up the batteries.

I've posted this in another part of the Forum.

My Australian order for a C350e has been put back a further 3 months for delivery. My dealer says it is because they are fitting a "new" engine.

It appears that older 2 litre 4 cylinder engines had "Wrist Pin" problems and this may be the reason why they are doing modifications and causing delays.

My dealer couldn't give any more details.

Hello everyone. Just noticed that the swiss and also german configurator now allows to choose the c350e to be in AMG style on exterior. Too late for me, but maybe some others are happy the read this news.

C350e battery

It doesn't sound too good. How long is the hybrid battery guaranteed for?

Mercedes C350e AMG Line Estate
Re: Tow bar

Hi - I recently acquired a 2017 (67) C350e AMG Line estate with the Premium Plus package. It has a built-in tow bar including electrics. I think it might be standard equipment on that spec but I can't be sure. Maybe someone here on the forum could tell you or you could ask a Merc dealer.
