Touchpad favorites and open touch area not responding
I am having issues with the touchpad "favorites" button and the open touch area for input or selection. The touch pad is not responding and I am not able to press the favorites button. The back button and quick audio track change/radio station change buttons are working.

Car was shut for like 30 minutes when I came back all 3 buttons started working again and I can select things by pressing the touchpad but still no swipe left/right/up/down or can't input text. My C300 is only 3 weeks old with around 425 miles but the build date is August 2014.

The easiest way to deal with this is to have your dealer order a new unit and just have it replaced under warranty.

There's definitely a fault. In the C200 loan car I had earlier this year the touch pad had the exact same issue you're describing. I'm pretty sure I've got a video for it somewhere. Seemed to me like something with the upper movable surface against the switch. You can feel that it doesn't actually engage the switch (i.e. the click) because it was stuck in a down position. I found that tapping (quite sharply) all around the upper surface would free it again most times though.

Didn't want to resurrect an old thread but I could finally verify this. I left my car 'burning' under the sun for 3 hot sunny days (parked at airport non-covered lot) with no sunshade and with the sun rays coming directly through the sunroof glass (forgot to close the sliding shade) to the top of the touchpad. ![smash](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smashfreak.gif)
When I made it back to the car the interior was so hot that I could barely touch those chromed sides of the touchpad and the sun was hitting on the top of it. The COMAND center wheel knob and all other controls were working fine but the touchpad didn't respond at all.
Once it cooled down, after driving over an hour with max A/C and parked another hour inside my home garage (at 75F) it went back to work.![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

If not if is likely a software hangup, try an entertainment system reset by holding down the disc eject button may reset it. If not then go the dealer and have them update the software.
Mine had both, buttons just needed freeing off and haven't repeated the issue, software was updated.
Best of luck.
