Magnetic Cradle-less Smartphone Mount

This mount is the first MOD I did to the new w205 . You just stick the mount into your CD-Player (i never use) and the provided metal piece to your smart phone. You can open and close the cup holders with easy. I went to Lowes and got a smaller m6 bolt instead of using the one it came with.

Best $17 you can spend on your car, Easy on/Easy off....

Can you also put the phone in landscape mode with the cradle? Does it work for the iPhone 6+?

How does it cope with the ride? Shaking?

How is it with hard acceleration/braking/potholes?

Doesn't damage the CD player or the opening, I take it?

If MB doesn't implement Android Auto (or MHL/Mirrorlink, which are an even further long shot), may have to resort to this solution, as it seems the neatest one for the W205's interior that I've seen so far.

Just picked up this Koomus mount on Amazon. Great product. Only downside is it completely covers the analog clock.

It was said that you can still open the console for the cup holders with ease but how about when drinks are in the cup holders? Does it interfere at all with taking a drink in and out of the cup holders?

Hey chicagofan00

If the phone is sitting vertically you will have an issue opening the console fully, but it is simple to just turn it horizontally and open with no problem.

Yes you can easily place a drink in the cup holder and take it out with no issues.

This is BY FAR the best 'easy on/easy off' car mount I have used. The magnets are very strong and the phone feels very secure while driving.

My ONLY issue with it is the covering of the analog clock which to me kind of is a big deal as it takes away a beautiful & unique feature of the car.

I've been using this mount since about two days after the original post. It works great. The screw does cover the clock. I tried finding a shorter bolt but I didn't have much luck at lowes so I just accepted the clock coverage. I look more at my phone then I do the clock.

The cup holder opens and you can put cups and small bottles of water with no problem even with the phone in regular orientation. I highly recommend it.
