Mismatched body sides?
(Edit: fixed the driver side close up picture)
I'm looking for a C400 owner who's got mismatched body sides on his car so we can trade parts and make our cars symmetrical.
I found out after 6 months owning the car (2015 C400 in Canada) that I have the Elegance trim on the driver side and the Sports trim on the passenger side. Amazing that I never noticed that earlier.
Left side looks like this:
Right side looks like this:
I have to say I'm less than impressed by the fact that something like this would come out of the assembly plant. Even less impressed by the fact that, 4 weeks after notifying the dealer, they still don't know how they're going to resolve this issue.
So, who's got the opposite mismatched car? Let's trade parts.

I would be on the phone to Mercedes of Canada ASAP about this, and tell them the dealer has dropped the ball as well as them. This is something Mercedes needs to fix. And soon.

Yes, it should definitely be fixed under warranty. Both sides need to be symmetrical whatsoever. You need to contact MB Canada soon and be persistent. This is a factory defect (even though cosmetic and should come under the coverage of warranty). Period. Don't waste your time looking for swaps from other people's car. That's not the right way to solve this, but I understand your frustration.

If it wasn't so frustrating and annoying, it would almost be comical. You cannot belive how this sort of thing gets past the panel inspectors - which we see in the MB promo videos, carefully running their eye, and hands along all of the seams, to make sure they're 100%.
Anyways, the important point is that this not YOUR problem, to resolve - the line of responsibility lies with: a) the supplying dealership, if they will/can not fix it to your satisfaction, then MB will need to sort it out.
I guess you just need to decide whether you want a Sport, or Elegance look to it!

I see it now, it looks as though he's got the same photo that's a close up twice but I noticed on one zoomed out picture it looks like there's a chrome trim and on the other none.

No worries, I'm not really looking to trade parts with someone, the dealer will fix it.
Still, I'd bet someone else is driving around with the other pair of mismatched panels somewhere...

One chrome strip is at the door sill line, the other below it.
This is a warranty item and should be a quick dealer fix.
Just another instance of inadequate QC at the Alabama factory. Stuff like this really doesn't surprise me ... what surprises me is how long it's taking to resolve these production errors on the assembly line.

Not sure I want to name them just yet, but the car was bought by a fleet management company at one dealership they like to deal with but I've been having all my maintenance done since the beginning at another dealership.
The dealer where I do my maintenance said that since this was a manufacturing defect, I needed to go to the one that sold the car. I think they're just lazy and don't want to deal with this.

Back in 88 when I was a young lad, I purchased a new 88 Ford Tempo on the X plan. The interior door handles on the driver side were black and the handles on the passenger side were chrome. Easy enough fix under warranty. But that was in the dark days of the 80's. Not good to hear this happening now. There is likely another car with the same (mirrored) ailment out there.
