driving assistance package with steer assist

Hi all I've had my c300 for a couple months and love the car. Dealership were great too.
However I feel a little short changed on my driving assistance package.
There's a load of promo out there where the car shows off the steer assist. However when I got mine in the UK it wasn't on there as part of the driving assistance package. Now, since June apparently it is! I queried this with MB uk and the said that I cant be added on to the car! I'm thinking well the car must be capable of it as steer assist uses the built in motors on the steering wheel to steer it which mine has as it has park assist and the distronic is also part of the package again of which I have. So what's left? From what I can see my car is missing the stereo cameras mounted at the windscreen. It has one camera, but not two. So why is it that MB uk can promo this as a feature and it exists in the user manual but isn't on my car? Well they say its only available from June 2015. But I have noticed that cars on the road before that seem to feature stereo cameras! So if anyone out there has two cameras on the windscreen can you let us know what they are for please? I'm confused and a little upset the car cant have it but won't stop till I find out why rather than just being told it cant. Any help is much appreciated.

You are correct that Steer Assist, in the UK market, only on orders after April (when the price went up by £200).

I agree it leaves you feeling a little "short changed" - but that is the way it is, I'm afraid.

Mine seems to have both cameras fitted in the windscreen, but I can't advise you on the technicals.

Its a shame I know and kinda seems unfair. Do you know what your stereo cameras provide a function for?

In US, the package offering is awesome. Exceeded my expectations. You guys get some other cool stuff though that we don't.

Yep the full driving assistance package is relatively new. Another reason why in feb when I ordered mine I didn't get this option. I'd consider it now given its been updated if I were ordering.

My experiences with the driver assistance package has been excellent. The speed sensitive cruise control is wonderful in traffic; active lane assist when I'm driving.

I'm also in the UK and the C200 which I ordered in December and got a couple of weeks ago also has driving assistance without steering assist. Like you I hadn't noticed the difference between the PR blurb and the specification contained in the UK price list against which I ordered and so was surprised to find I didn't have steering assist. My guess is that MB had to do some more testing or get some additional approvals to allow it's use here in the UK and so didn't get steering assist as soon as folks in other countries.

Having now gained some experience with the car I don't think I'd find steering assist that useful when it's trying to use white lines as our road markings are now too often poorly maintained. In stop start traffic it would be more useful but then as you have to regularly touch the steering wheel to avoid the system getting upset and turning off I think the automatic speed and braking control is probably the best part of the system. My main complaint with the benefit of hindsight is that I think the system we have was a little expensive and worth less than the £200 price increment they've added for the current system.

The appearance of my windscreen seems to match that in the PR blurb but when I get chance I'll have a closer look at what's inside the bit of windscreen where the camera(s) are fitted to see if I've got stereo cameras.

During stop start you don't need to touch the wheel. It's the best part of the feature in my opinion. Battling Sydney's roads every morning i let the cat do the work!

That's cool feature but I think retrofitting might be expensive :/ i will try to quote it on my 1st service, there is no point now as probably parts aren't available.
