The manual gear shifter

I used it by accident this weekend.

1. How do I get back to automatic without stopping the car?

2. Is it possible to disable the manual shifter?

Thanks

1) Press & hold the upshift for 2-3 seconds.
2) ask the dealer to have it disabled.

If you do nothing, it will revert to automatic shifting on its own.

If I remember correctly, which is not a given, it's only a few minutes before it goes back to automatic mode.

I think it will hold the manual setting in Sport+ mode.

I dont think press and hold works anymore, it did on the W204 but on the 205 you need to upshift several times until the display changes from M7 to D

Holding upshift for 1.5-2 seconds absolutely does work to put it back into automatic shifting.

I think it will hold the manual setting in Sport+ mode.
Sport+ resets to auto every time you come to a full stop, or if you don't shift at the recommended shift points (green up arrow on the console) for more than about 5 seconds. I'd pay money to get t to stay in manual mode 100% of the time in sport +. The personal setting for the engine to be in auto mode doesn't tune the exhaust and feels more like comfort mode than sport or sport+.

If inadvertantly pressing the shifts, I confirm that on mine it can be reverted from manual to automatic by holding the upshift for around 2 seconds. Otherwise it reverts back after something like 10 seconds (this is in Comfort mode).

Online manual, page 169:

Deactivating
If you have activated manual gear shifting, it
will remain active for a certain amount of
time. Under certain conditions the minimum
amount of time is extended, e.g. in the case of
lateral acceleration, during an overrun phase
or when driving on steep terrain.
If manual gear shifting is deactivated, the
gears will be selected automatically.
You can also deactivate manual gear selection:
X Pull on the right-hand steering wheel paddle
shifter and hold it in place (Y page 169).
or
X Use the DIRECT SELECT lever to switch the
transmission position.
or
X Use the AGILITY SELECT switch to change
the drive program (Y page 167).
Manual gear selection is deactivated.
