2016 C-class order guide (w/out prices)

A few more details have leaked. Price increase for sure not only on the sedan but on options that were bundled in 2015 as well. Premium package has been broken into premium 1 and premium 2 (like they are doing in the UK) and when compared to the old package result in about a $500 price increase but do include blind spot assist which was optional in the prior year.

Prices are not detailed which is disappointing but from a previous forum member post there is going to be about a $500 base increase to the sedan pricing.

Additionally this dealer indicates that they are anticipating a starting price on C450 in the "low $50,000 range" and are already taking deposits for August build spots.

Do my eyes deceive me?

A diesel engine option!! Hooray!

Sign me up for a Diesel with Luxury package.

For those that dont remember, Mercedes has not sold a small diesel sedan in the US since the 1989 190D.

Other changes:
-Heated steering wheel option
-Night Package option
-Silver paint on Luxury wheels, replaces Dark Gray (in my opinion looked terrible as is caked in brake dust)

Thanks for posting this Voip1.

It looks like the blue light LED is coming to the lighting package.

Is this interior lighting related to the interior package or is this some exterior thing that happens when you unlock the car?

I never use the key fob to unlock on my current ride since it has the comfort access... so I don't get to observe the running lights, door handle lights, etc, coming on when the car is unlocked.

The DRLs light up blue then turn to white when you unlock the car at night...looks great.

This is the blue hue some other markets have on their LED headlights when the car is unlocked.

Ah probably does look nifty. Not worth it to me, don't drive in the evenings enough to justify the lighting package.

My understanding is that the 2015 US models lacked speed limit indication in the HUD. Could this mean it is being added for 2016?

Several of the descriptions and images claim they are from the European version of the product, so I don't expect the feature for showing speed limits in the HUD has been added to the US model.

2016 Premium 1 + 2 = $3350
2015 Premium + Blind Spot Assist = $3250

That appears to be the only package increase other than the increase of the base price. You will get 5 years of Mbrace for "free" too, which is worth $1260 list in the US.

Mbrace giveaway just proves they can't sell it, so throw it in as a value add. Is Mbrace only on the COMAND equipped cars?

As far as package pricing, as I pointed out in 2015 you weren't obligated to buy the blind spot assist. Mercedes has cleverly packaged that in (even though it probably costs them very little to add it) and used it to justify the price hike on the premium package bundle.

Some of the option combinations are a bit confusing at the moment, since C450 is listed as having "premium package 1" standard but from the ordering guide that leaked for the C450 it appears it also has the LED lights standard, so it will be curious if there will even be a "premium package 2" offered for C450 or if it will just have a la carte options for those items that aren't included standard on the car such as the heated seats and sound system.

I think the Blue LED only comes with the Intelligent Lights package - so don't know what the U.S. equivalent would be as, I understand, the cornering lights not to be available?

Thanks for the link and information.

Interesting finds, no apple carpay or 360 camera. The heated wheel is something a lot wanted. And the designo Red I think is a great addition!

I think they would have had a lot of takers on Acoustic side Glass, Matte brown wood, and a few of the other cool options people can spec on the other side of the pond.

I found Carplay missing disturbing as well. It is still possible that it will be added retroactively by way of a FW update later this year and Mercedes is just covering their bases by not mentioning it in the ordering info since they got burned in 2014 by announcing it was showing up and then not delivering it.

Hyundai/Kia/GM/Volvo/Honda all have confirmed cars shipping this year with Carplay and Android Auto so the Germans really need to get off their asses and deliver it already.

Unfortunately if it is added retroactively it is a total unknown which vehicles would be able to get it... 2016s only or 2015s also? COMAND requirement?

I was just at my dealer last week and ordered a 2016 C300 and had the option for it. It was part of a $1250 Parktronic package.

Great! I thought they left it off the list again.

My car is scheduled to arrive in late August as MY2015. Is there a way to add the heated steering wheel since MY2016 is just around the corner? Haven't asked the dealer this yet. This is Canadian order.

Almost definitely no. Retrofitting heated wheel I to a car that is not set up for it is no trivial task, if it is that important to you then you could always refuse your 2015 and have the dealer order you a 2016.

does it mean that cars which are built in August will automatically have the new spec?

Probably depends on the factory but it looks like the US factory will make the switchover sometime in July to the new model year.

Also don't forget you lose the flat-bottom steering wheel if you add the heated option. I would rather have freezing cold hands than use that round wheel

I didn't order it with the sport package so I don't have the flat bottom wheel anyway. For some reason I thought C400 in Canada had the flat bottom wheel as standard and didn't want airmatic (part of sport pack). Would probably add the sport package if I did it again though.

Thought it would just be a different wheel with an additional power input. I guess it's not as simple as that.

Usually it is not as simple as that. There would typically be different wiring since the previous MY did not have the heated steering wheel as even an option. Probably also wiring and switch to control the heating function.

I'm not going to say it might not be possible to retrofit it, but it would not be cheap by any stretch (could easily cost $2,000-$3,000 to have it done).. it could even require coding changes to be done to the car to make it work.

As mentioned, talk to your dealer, if this is a "must have" feature for you and you are willing to wait till Sept/Oct to get your vehicle see what they will do for you.
