Isn't it better to fill up from pump as adblue has to be used in one go, so you get ripped off for buying small container or waste it if you use a big container, using a pump would you can pay for just what you use

Be aware, the AdBlue tanks come in different sizes. The new models have a much bigger SCR-tank that should manage between two maintenance visits. The older cars only managed 7000 km.

Seems my V222 was filled up at the factory (as well as the fuel tank, it was picked up from Sindelfingen). Just recently filled the AdBlue tank before the first service at 10200 km. 5.5 litres was enough to make it full. Could have managed four years without refilling.
I have a 200 l canister at home (for bigger vehicles that also need AdBlue). Easy to fill up if reading the AdBlue level with the Star diagnosis tool, there is no level indicator at the instrument cluster menus and I don't have the filler pipe that should come with the small canisters.
The AdBlue tank in the car is about 26 litres, would have been better not to fill it up at all but I was afraid MB techs would have filled it at the first service and would have charged a fortune.

It's not that the CDIs were not as polluting it's the new stricter emission laws in Europe (Euro6) that require the ad Blue system so that they reduce NOx to similar levels as petrol. Those with Ad Blue are therefore much less polluting (although I think the system is truly only affective when the engine is fully warmed). Trucks in Europe have been using Ad Blue for a number of years.
