Obstacle encountered: 2016 cannot add heated steering without Interior Package

Hi all, I heard sad news from dealer that the system is not letting him add 'heated steering unless interior package is added. From the order guide (posted here: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ut-prices.html, it seems to be an individual option and there should not be a problem? Any advice?

I can see forgoing "fluff" options like HUD, Air Balance pkg., or even the expensive Driver Assistance pkg., but to skimp and pass on the Interior pkg. which includes leather seats when purchasing a $50,000+ vehicle is just a travesty IMO.

I've sat in C300s with both the MB Tex seats and the leather seats...and to me the MB Tex material doesn't hold a candle to the leather. The smell alone of the leather in my new C300 puts a smile on my face just about every time I get in the car...it's a smell of luxury!

I think this might be subjective MassC300, I am sure the leather seats are really nice, but I have grown up (my first car had leather seats) in leather seats, and then my previous car CLK350 had MBTex, which I learnt that they are MBTex only at the time I was selling So I actually liked MBTex and couldn't tell the difference had the CLK buyer hadn't told me

This kind of things happens with early versions of build guides. They will either eventually patch the ordering system so that the heated wheel can be purchased separately or they will remove the standalone option for the heated wheel.

Unfortunately this is what happens in the first few weeks when new models are made available and there are small changes.

I went for the fluffs, HUD & Driver Assistance pkg which I use everyday instead of the interior pkg. I did not believe the leather could hold up as well as the MB Tex; longevity is important to me. Everyone has their own special needs, that's why there are options.

I would not order the interior pkg even with a heated steering either. However, I would add heated steering as a standalone option.

Leather is very nice, as is the ambient lighting, ventilated seats and lighted door sills. Everyone can pick what they like, I wouldn't try and save the money by skipping this package.

I approach luxury cars with the mindset if I can't afford it with all the options, I can't afford it. Then I knock off a few things I know i do not want, and keep the rest.

I actually love MBTex over the skin of a poor cow, and well Mercedes ordering system should know quickly (before I lose my chance to get a heated steering) that they cant make an option dependent on cruelty and on top of that forcing a payment for it

Buy the MB-Tex and a live cow ... you'll have the best of both worlds.

Exactly, I knock off the interior package because I know I do not want it; I want MB-Tex.

What you are missing is that some of us view these cars more for performance than for luxury and don't need every option box ticked in order to wind up with a car that is thoroughly enjoyable.

I personally find little value in the tech packages anymore since they are vastly inferior to what my mobile can do (if they offered Carplay that would be a different story).... similarly I don't need to spend thousands for driving nannies... I'm already a very safe and attentive driver.

The interior package, the leather interior is nice but so is the MBTex.

My current car has over $7500 in options. Leather, full tech package, parking assist, etc. If I was ordering it again I would give everything I optioned up other than the heads up display which is pretty useful and the heated seats which come in handy during the 7 months out of the year we get cool weather.
