I've been told that it's not available in Australia in the C class but it does works in the S class, a little disappointed at the repose form MB Australia. I sure it is only software related & hopeful there will be a free update 1 day.

If it's in the spec of your car for your country then it should just work. It does in mine.

Not available in Canada... and when I asked about futures, MB Canada's response was there were no plans to introduce it.

I was told that it was switched off in the S Class as well for drivers in Oz. Something about irregularities in signs between the states. Mumbo Jumbo BS if you ask me. Even if they decided that optical recognition is too costly to code for each country they could easily make it work by just using the speed limit database. I've got a $200 dash unit that knows all of the road speed limits in Australia, yet the $90K Merc doesn't - pretty slack from MB Australia IMO.

Another kick in the rear is that if you buy a cheaper version(even a B Class) with Becker navigation, you get the inbuilt speed limit database. Apparently MB are looking into including that function into COMAND. Not holding my breath though - I bet I'll be onto the next car by the time they bring that out.

Given that the Garmin GPS seems know all the correct speed limits where ever I am, I was surprised that it does not display in the head-up

Sometimes mine will activate for a week or so, then stop.
I have no "subscription" that I am aware of but ya it's random.

Same goes for the W204 C250 coupe. the traffic randomly works sometimes for a few days, longest was 2 weeks, then just stops.

Are you talking about traffic sign assist (e.g. speed limits) or traffic on the gps?

Both are of interest, even though this thread was talking about traffic sign assist.
