Help! How can I paint scratch on my bumper?

Guys, I'm driving a C250. My bumper got a scratch. It's kind of deep but not really twisting the bumper. I'm thinking of paint it by myself.... Anyone had some experience?? Need your help. Thanks!!!

If the scratch is only on the clear coat, use the 3M scratch remover, it works. Just need to do abit of sanding and buffing, I had reservations at first but did it on my Wifes 2015 C-class and am happy with the results.

I have used Chipex to great effect to produce an "invisible" repair on several cars, now. On a Citroen, which had a multitude of chips and marks, the largest hole on the colour coat (ie down to primer coat) was 8mm across.

Providing your mark is in the paintwork and not a gouge in the plastic form, then you will achieve a fully acceptable finish.

It takes time and effort, but well worth it.

You have a pic of the scratch? This would help in determining the best way to repair it

If it is right through the paint it is easily spot repaired with the Glasurit water based base coat & low VOC clearcoat. They don't have to respray the bumper. As long as you give them the paint code from the doorjam sticker the match will be perfect. Any good small dent repair shop should turn you around in an hour.

Sorry to be a Jonah, on this but, I have experience of several similar touch up kits (including MB and BMW OEM kits). The fact is that you WILL still see the repair. The reason being that while the colour may match, you will still see the outline of the mark, because the paint level will not be completely flat. The outcome being you will still see the mark, but "coloured in".

As I said in an earlier post, I have had some greater success with Chipex - the difference being when you apply the paint, you "blend" it into the existing surface, by "melting" the newly applied paint, to give you a completely flat finish - after a few coats.. Looking at the damage, I am certain you will achieve a near on invisible repair, using this system.

Up to you my friend, I wish you every success, however you approach it.

If you got the kit already give it a shot. I'd recommend sanding it down so the scratch is flat and no loose paint then apply the touch up paint let it set then with a high grit sandpaper wet sand it down you will probably need to repeat the process with a couple coats and a couple rounds of sanding once it's to your satisfaction a little rubbing compound then polish then wax. This should hide it where barely noticeable (at least from 3 feet away). Work slow and steady

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out

From the picture, it seems to be a black overrun, you can safely try removing it with simple WD40 oil. You will have to rub it in few times.

Looks to me more like the paint has been removed down to the plastic. In which case I'd have it professionally sprayed/blended in as a DIY job will look just that, DIY.

See my Glasurit post. That needs a spot spray repair. See my old C240 & tell me where its been touched. Done by Dent Magic Cape Town in one hour for a knock worse than yours at a cost of $60.

Help! How can I paint scratch on my bumper?

Wow!! That looks good. I tried the finish paint. It's totally a waste of money. I will just go to a local body shop
