8 weeks old and returned to the dealers..

Hi all, been reading up on things here for a few months now and it's been massively helpful so thanks to everyone for there experiences and info.Decided to register and post as I dropped my car back on Monday with a few issues to be sorted,I think most if not all have previously been mentioned on here. And having th info to take the dealers has been very useful !

1. Chirping noises (like a cricket) from keyless/go communications between fob and car...
2.Rattling drivers window and to a lesser degree passengers as well.
3.Lazy hesitant gear changes especially gears 1-2-3 from cold but also at others times as if the car has to think a little to long about deciding to change gear.Engine is noisy in the low gears and sounds like a U.K taxi!
4.Wipers when on intermittent are jerky/rough and noisey, fine when on constant wipe and I've improved the issue to some degree with vineger but still not smooth.

The Obsidian black "220 AMG premium plus" is 8 weeks old and I've driven just on 1500 miles. For a 40k car brand new I think I deserve to be picky but I wouldn't say these are acceptable for any new car especially a premium brand like MB.All previous car before this where audis but I felt the urge to try something different and loved the interior of the c class ,well until I realised how bad the black gloss trim marks and collects dust! Haha.

Only mods I've done is have the diamond grill fitted and illuminated star (always on version)

Hopefully have the car back with all probs corrected but am hesitant having read a lot of comments on here...

Don't worry too much, a good dealership should be able ti sort all those things out for you. I've read that there's a reflash for the rough transmission shifts, and if that reflash doesn't work, I've heard there's another coming down the pike this fall. My late build 2015 C300 4Matic luckily does not suffer from any of the issues you've encounterd.

BTW, the illuminated star only comes on when the headlights come on...at least on my car anyway.

Hello mate, i'm just down the road from you in Manchester. How much did you pay for the grill and illuminated star if you don't mind me asking? And did you fit them yourself?

Hi, ordered the grill of eBay via China seller think it was around £120 roughly and the star was from eBay via the U.S seller at around around the £250 mark as I recall, shipping on top of those prices as well, import charges where minimul as the sellers put low price at my request.
I wanted the updated star that came with the harness for full time illumination rather than the first release which I believe only lights for a short time.
I had a garage fit the grill only cost £60 for the job, involves removal of front of car which I wasn't up to doing myself.
The star I fitted myself and it was pretty easy to do,after following the guide posted on here by some kind member, connected up to fuse box in engine bay pretty simple.
Will try upload a pic of it fitted and running...

Yes I agree good to build relationship with dealership from both sides because if they want me to stay with there brand I'll need to feel like everything is taken care of,they did state they don't want to hand me the car back without all issues fixed so warned me it may be a few days.. Am fine with that and like that fact they are realistic in time frame etc.

Are you using the city centre or Warrington centre ?

They are both in the same franchise so does not really matter, I'm just being nosy.

I've had none of the common issues on here just a flaked piece of silver trim around the centre cup/ coin tray lid. They replaced it last week.

My biggest problem has been with connect me but that's finally sorted now and more down to merc not training the franchises properly on the new technology I think. I got a free tank of fuel out of them for my trouble, they offered it which was nice.

If you do have any issues just ask to see the service manager and threaten to complain to mercedes. Merc are very hot on customer service and any complaint to them all hell seems to break out (so long as you are being reasonable etc...). I've no real issue with some problems now and again, it's how they are resolved that matters and they where efficient in terms of customer service with me.

Hi, I'm using the the city centre dealership out of ease but I actually purchased via Warrington branch (long story...) like you say both the same franchises.Good to here they fear head office being involved, hopefully tho probs will be fixed and I can enjoy the car again.
I've not had any issue with flaked silver but the piano black trim is in itself a scratch/dust magnet ,wish it was alu like the other trim parts.
I forgot to also mention in my list of issues to the garage about getting a message up on a couple of occasions now telling my my service is due?! And would I like to call to arrange it? Seems like a glitch bearing in mind the car is 8 weeks old ! I might just mention when I get to finally pick it back up... I have just cancelled the message to clear it.
I have connect set up but I don't really think that much of it in its current state, other than checking the doors are locked and that the car is where I left it! That is haha

I will be interested to know what your dealer says about the keyless go chirping. My car does it once a short while after you start. I must admit i have no issue with the noise and do not see it as a fault it just is....interestingly my husband has never registered the noise...

Otherwise after a minor issue with the drivers seatback parting company with the seat my car has been fine with no jerky gear changes or rattling windows, speakers or other problems with the burmester system. It was built april may in bremen delivered may 20th in france. I do notice wind noise at higher speeds but this is clearly not due to bad seals but an effect of exterior design and the general mechanical quietness of the car. The om651 engine is very different in character in 250 guise to the 220 i experienced in the e and glk class. It is very quiet in the c.

I hope your issues are resolved to your satisfaction and you become as happy as i am with my car.

Hi, I had a call yesterday afternoon telling me the car was ready to pick up but the tech wanted me to test drive it first with him to see if I was happy with the work done, unfortunately I was out for the day with the family so I've arranged to go this morning,so will be off shortly to pick up/test drive.
Fingers crossed hey... Shall report back on work done and results of this.

Hi all, have the car back now and all seems good

1.chirping from keyless/go - tech reprogrammed so there's one initial chirp when I start car then nothing else, he explained its to do with the car sending data to the key like mileage and other info about the car so if MB dock the key in they can get a lot of info on car from that, I believe mine won't now tho if am correct in what he told me, not an issue and it saves hearing that noise!
2.Window rattle - he has lubricated door seals and reset how tightened they are, couldn't here anything on test drive so will keep an ear out if it returns.
3. Gear Changes - updated the car with a released update and has re calibrated the gears individually so they change better, I drove from cold this morning and noticed a big difference .
4 Juddery wipers- replaced these, checked the sitting off them and cleaned screen. Hopefully all good now ....just wait for rain.

I can't fault the dealership on there polite and professional service on this occasion, fingers crossed I don't have to return with any of the issues, have to say I was much happier in the c class again rather than the CLA loaner I had, I had originally thort about getting this instead.

Happy motoring I hope now !

Thanks for the update.....interesting info re keyless start. I have wondered what the car does when 2 keys associated with it are in the car. Husband and i frequently travel together and we both have keys with us, maybe we get just one chirp as the key not being used to run the car is updated...would love an mb tech to explain!

It was a surprise to me when he informed me what was happening, obviously the car must check that the key is still present for security( I did ask that now he had re programmed was any of the security features affected as that was a huge concern if it was, he stated nothing had changed other than the key receiving info)
He just said if I went into a dealership and they tried to download the key they wouldn't get any updated info from it anymore.
I did ask what was the point of it making the chirping noise in the first place and he just stated it was part of the way it was designed to work.
It has no use tho the noise and he agreed that it made no sense.

So other than the initial chirp on start up I getting nothing else.
Knowing there's a few members on here not enjoyed having a cricket on the car they can now have it exterminated! Ha.

No idea how things work when there are two keys in the car I guess they just both work and have the same info updated to them?
