A few questions until my English Manual arrives

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me out of my confused state. Unfortunately the car's manual is in German and I have asked Mercedes Zurich to provide me with an English copy but that could take a while.

When I park straight on into a space how do I turn on the front parking sensors without putting the car in reverse / park first?

With the Comand Online, how can I skip an audio track without clicking into the "media" option first? Also, how can I switch off the radio / media all together whilst keeping the Navi on? Currently I am just turning it down completely.

I notice with the cruise control stick I somehow manage to get two things going... firstly cruise control, which will stick at a certain speed.. however I have also managed to increase the range of the cruise control speed, so there are 4-5 red bars highlighted over a broader range of speeds. Any idea what this actually is?

Also, how did I once manage to get the speed limiter working using the same stick?

With the doors.. is anyone else having issues properly closing them without having to slam them?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions! I am a little puzzled as you can tell

Have added comments.

You can access an online English manual, from the Mercedes UK website, in the Users Area, I think.

The front sensor come on automatically, when your speed drops below ~10 mph.

I'll check on switching off, altogether. I've not tried it....
To skip a track, you can do in several ways:
If you have Media on the COMAND, then just swipe right on the touchpad/turn the dial/push to the right.
If you have NavPhone up, the swipe upwards on the touchpad with TWO fingers, first. This will bring up a pop-up to change tracks.
If you have the driver display on Media (steering wheel Home button) then you can change using the up/down buttons on the steering wheel.

I notice with the cruise control stick I somehow manage to get two things going... firstly cruise control, which will stick at a certain speed.. however I have also managed to increase the range of the cruise control speed, so there are 4-5 red bars highlighted over a broader range of speeds. The Red sectors show you the gap between current speed and set speed, so if you increase the cruise to 75 and you are currently at 65 you can see the range. Particularly useful with Distronic.

Also, how did I once manage to get the speed limiter working using the same stick?

Just press the button on the end of the Cruise stalk.

With the doors.. is anyone else having issues properly closing them without having to slam them?

Nope, but there must be a bit of a knack, as mother in law is ALWAYS slamming them hard enough to pop my ear-drums....

The doors are hard to close on my 300 as well but the car does not have excessive wind noise either. Hard to close doors might be a good thing. The online manuals are more complete then the printed manuals that come with the car. Good looking car and nice background too. Looks almost like the south of France:-)

A few answers:

I think the parking sensors automatically come on when driving at low speed (< 11mph?).

If you press the back end of the touch pad you get a control that lets you skip forward back by swiping the touch pad. You can pause (if playing media) or mute (if using the radio) by hitting mute button on the steering wheel or the power button to the right of the command dial. Note if you hit the mute button while the NAV is talking to you mute the NAV for the rest of the trip (not sure how to undo this).

If its showing more than two lights its generally because the car has decided it can't drive as fast as you asked it go (generally because the car in front isn't going fast enough).

I haven't noticed needing to slam my doors.

Hope this helps.

Are your door windows made from the acoustic glass? It might be worth opening the passenger door and then open/close the driver's side door with the window up and also down. This would let you rule out the glass.
