Phone signal strength indicator

Is there anywhere deep down in the Comand menu to display the phone signal indicator on the the dashboard screen ?

When the contact list is displayed on the main 8" screen it hides the signal strength. Maybe not a problem in the middle of a town or city where a strong signal is consistent, but out on the roads of Kent it disappears randomly. By the time I've scrolled down the list for desired contact (after waiting for signal to appear) it's often gone by the time I try to make the call. I'm sure it was always visible on my E class, and my previous VW Touareg displayed it all the time on the dash display.

Same here. It's always showing in the upper right corner.

+3. If you have verizon it also is a surrogate for the cars own telephony system (embrace and data connection).

Maybe different on UK vehicles then. Definitely no signal strength on the dashboard screen (between speedo and rev counter) Only displays the provider. Always present top right on the main Comand screen, but is hidden behind the caller lists when brought up

Also just got a new Samsung A5 which when connected to car, speech cuts in and out during all calls. No problems with phone when not bluetooth connected. Had no problem with previous phone. Any similar experiences ? Reinstalled a couple of times but no difference.

oh you mean the gauge display?? yea no signal indicator there.

why do you want it there anyway? would add lots of clutter to that screen.

the command screen seems like it's normal for you like the rest of us, showing in the top right

So I can see if I've still got a signal when I've scrolled through the called number list

but the impact is so minimal, you can hit nav or radio and check then switch right back to telephony.

Sure, the impact is minimal if you rarely make calls....But, in my circumstance where I may make or receive in excess of 150 calls per day whilst on the road, and in an area where phone reception is patchy at best, it is frustrating.

I'd appreciate being able to see what chance I have of making a successful connection when calling up from the 'missed call' 'dialled call' list on the main screen.... which when open, completely hides the signal guage. As I said in my original post, I'm sure if you are in the middle of a town where reception is always good it may never be a problem. When I am scrolling through dozens of missed or received or dialled calls on the screen only to receive a no signal message when I attempt to connect is frustrating. If there were a visible guage on the dash screen I wouldn't make the call until I could see that a signal is present (As on my previous VW)...that's all

yea that's a huge amount of reliance on the in-car telephony system, i would not know what it's like to be in your situation to need that kind of functionality on the car.

but yes, in this case i agree that there should be some expanded functionality if a person with your needs was to be satisfied!
