collision assist inoperative
Hi,
This is my first post to a forum.
I know, long overdue....
I own several Daimler AG products (12 c63, 10 ML350 and 15 C300)
I did have several issues with my c63 and ML very minor, and the dealer here is Dallas was awesome in addressing them and fixing them.
This post is not about these cars.....
I got the car on 10/25/14 my C300.
Brand new C class. And I have to say I love this car. IMHO best mid size car in the market. Fav futures are LED lights and Speakers. Awesome!
Well at 6/3/15 I had to bring the car because it STOPPED on the highway with my wife and my son in the car. From 80 mph to 10 mph. LIMBO mode, cant accelerate......

I called MB USA and spoke with Regional Rep. His name was Andrew.
He was very brief the first time, told me they will review and send rep to see the dealer and review all the notes.
He called 5 days later and rejected my request to buy the car back or issue and replacement.Very short tempered and rude. Still professional but no feeling and nothing to say....Sorry, we will fix it nothing.
I will have an lawyer involved (I am an CPA) that's fairly familiar the law (Was an expert witness few times)
I will keep you posted.
I will take car back to a dealer next week.

Sorry to hear about your plight with the collision system. That would **** me off. As for your Keyless problem, post your video on Youtube. Maybe that will get some attention?

I have read threads here on MB World pertaining to both your car's issues, and some have had much better luck getting their dealerships to fix those issues. For instance when it comes to your key FOB problem, there's a simple reflash update that fixes it. As for the collision system issue, try conducting a search here, I definitely remember reading a few posts on the subject.
Sounds to me the relationship between yourself and your dealership has soured...that or they're just incompetent...either way, it's time to find a different MB dealership.

Hey, I have a 2015 C400 and the same exact sign showed up in my car while I was driving on Dallas North Tollway last night, but it did not make me stop my car. My car was driving a little bit weird after the warning sign popped up, also my blind spot assist would not work.
Another problem we have in common is that the key fob wouldn't be detected by the car when I try to use the sensors to unlock the car. I went to the Grapevine dealership to see if they would reflash the software like some people have stated in this forum but they were unaware of what that meant and were not cooperative at all!
I plan on making a trip to the Dallas Dealership to address these details.

I just traded my C for Lexus RX45h....
Park Place Dallas was nice to deal with but my car was repaired over 5 times in 9 months.
Smart key NEVER worked, not even once.
I was holing onto the handle like a chimp!

My car was in the limbo mode twice.
Cant get power.
I did fix this issue 5 times in 9 months.
Traded my C for Lexus rx450h.
Why?
MB corporate was extremely cold and "its your problem now, deal with it"

Not sure why is MB North America declining to help.....
Offer any kind of apologies or sympathy, just oh well take it to a dealer
Did your car lose power on the road? Or not?

Update on Collision Prevention Inoperative
I have an E350, a 2016 with less than 6,000 miles. Twice at highway speed I have gotten the collision prevention assist inoperative light and the car basically went dead. The accelerator pedal stopped functioning as did the ability to downshift. Both times I was able to get the car to the side of the road, turned it off, and the CPA reset to allow me to drive. The first time, in October, I took it to the dealer and called Mercedes and was told no one knew about the problem. It happened again this week. Does anyone have any other information?

This is my first post to a forum.
I know, long overdue....
I own several Daimler AG products (12 c63, 10 ML350 and 15 C300)
I did have several issues with my c63 and ML very minor, and the dealer here is Dallas was awesome in addressing them and fixing them.
This post is not about these cars.....
I got the car on 10/25/14 my C300.
Brand new C class. And I have to say I love this car. IMHO best mid size car in the market. Fav futures are LED lights and Speakers. Awesome!
Well at 6/3/15 I had to bring the car because it STOPPED on the highway with my wife and my son in the car. From 80 mph to 10 mph. LIMBO mode, cant accelerate......

I called MB USA and spoke with Regional Rep. His name was Andrew.
He was very brief the first time, told me they will review and send rep to see the dealer and review all the notes.
He called 5 days later and rejected my request to buy the car back or issue and replacement.Very short tempered and rude. Still professional but no feeling and nothing to say....Sorry, we will fix it nothing.
I will have an lawyer involved (I am an CPA) that's fairly familiar the law (Was an expert witness few times)
I will keep you posted.
I will take car back to a dealer next week.

Repaired the car 5 times
Gave me mb loaner
However......
Daimler AG & MB North America regional rep was beyond ego centric, no empathy, not even a human
So I had 5 MB products and I had minor issues but omg my wife and son are driving on a highway and car goes from 80mph to 10mph and the only reason that they are ok I because road was empty....that's to much to handle

Careful
I have an E350, a 2016 with less than 6,000 miles. Twice at highway speed I have gotten the collision prevention assist inoperative light and the car basically went dead. The accelerator pedal stopped functioning as did the ability to downshift. Both times I was able to get the car to the side of the road, turned it off, and the CPA reset to allow me to drive. The first time, in October, I took it to the dealer and called Mercedes and was told no one knew about the problem. It happened again this week. Does anyone have any other information?

Last time they replaced the whole front
Gave me loaner and were super nice
my regional rep is a corporate robot and a pure sample why corporations are well corporations......
The car had a defect.....I believe that it wasn't car itself it is the software that car is using.
E got redesigned and updated and every year there is a MB car that is a first year production there are issues
I had E63 and Ml350 only minor issues
I would suggest to do 2 things:
1. Trade this car (i did)
2. Take it to dealer and have it repaired, get lawyer's advice Lemmon law varies from state to state and lawyers won't take the case that they can't cash in. So it has to be repaired 3times within a year.
Same issue......
And I would suggest to drive side road.
Don't go to highway........
It's a shame that car has issue but it is a huge disappointment that mb won't stay behind their mistake because they are aware of this........

Collision Assist Inoperative
Thank you all for the updates. I have seen the same issue in the GLA thread as well. I surmise MB is using the same Collision Assist module and software for the C class, E, GLA, etc.
If I understand his, my experience on the road was similar to djokodallas...one second I was doing 70 mph+ on the highway and the next second the car had no power; pumping the gas pedal did absolutely nothing; and I had to dead stick the car to the side of the road. I tried to downshift manually to try to get it to kick in and tried tapping the breaks to get collision assist to disengage, but nothing. This most recent occurrence the "cruise control inoperative" light went on at the same time, but I was not using cruise control when it happened.
Both times I was in the far left lane. It was only luck we were not in a major accident. The first time my wife was in the car with me. The second time it was my wife and daughter. My wife won't ride in the car now. She is terrified of it.
The two times is happened were both at highway speed. It has not happened driving around town. The dealer now has the car. They were very nice. They sent someone with a loaner for me and took the car to the shop. We'll see what MB USA has to say.

Had the exact same experience. The message flashed, lost all acceleration and nearly got into an accident coasting off the road...
Car back from the dealer today with the following notes:

Cause: Poor Connection at ME Connector
541010: Electrical System Check
Found multiple codes in the system for implausible data from the ME and Traction systems. Found LI.54.18-P-061565 For these same faults. Says that the issue is under investigation and the fix right now is to disconnect the connectors for the ME and reconnect

I'll be following up the service advisor in the morning as I picked up after hours and the receptionist had no working knowledge of the issue. The terminology "issue under investigation" and "fix right now" make me nervous...

Help!
This morning I was driving on the highway and the cruise control kicked off. The car began to slow down and I applied the accelerator but it took several seconds for it to respond. The display began showing error messages including ESC inoperable, cruise control inoperable, and Collision Prevention Assist inoperable.
The car continued to drive sluggishly until I made it into town where I came upon a car accident. When another motorist stopped to let me switch lanes, the car did not move for 3 to 4 seconds after pressing the accelerator. The other motorist came very close to hitting me as he thought I was not going.
At the next light I turned the car off and restarted the engine. The error messages went away and the car drove normal again.
Ironically I was on my to the dealership for Service A when this occurred. I told the service team what had happened and they said they would look into it. When I went to pick up the vehicle, we were told there was nothing wrong and the only error code they could pull up was the loss of traction going 68 mph. I was told the situation would have to be replicated for them to be able to do anything and that I could contact MBUSA.
MBUSA told me there was nothing they can do and I must contact the dealer. The representative continuously told me he didn't understand why I was contacting them.
There are dozens of complaints of this happening to other Mercedes vehicles from the 2014 and 2015 model years on SaferCar.gov.
Should I continue to drive this vehicle to replicate the issue and pray I make it out alive the next time?

Hi, I just joined this forum because I'm having the same issue with my 2015 C300. I bought it in December 2015 and 3 days after driving it off the lot I got the error message: Collision Prevention Assist Inoperable. But just the message. The car didn't stop and the engine didn't cut out.
I took it to Mercedes anyway and they said NO ONE HAS REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO MERCEDES. NO ONE. So are they lying to me? Sounds like it.
2nd time this happened last week but the engine cut off, the message came up, the safety belt did not lock down on me like it should in a crash and 3 or 4 seconds later the car turned back on. I was driving 45 miles per hour when the engine cut off and this happened. I took it back to Mercedes and they kept it for a week. They said they reset the codes and that it was different codes from the first time it happened in December. This time it was engine to collision assist, the car thought it was in an accident and that is why the engine cut off, cuts off the gas, etc. That is what I was told.
I'm concerned that this could happen like I see in this forum, that it could happen at a high rate of speed on a busy highway with my family in the car. This is a problem and if it has been reported to Mercedes, why did they lie to me and say that it has not been reported to Mercedes at all?
What to do next? I'm afraid, driving this car, I don't feel safe.

I know, long overdue....
I own several Daimler AG products (12 c63, 10 ML350 and 15 C300)
I did have several issues with my c63 and ML very minor, and the dealer here is Dallas was awesome in addressing them and fixing them.
This post is not about these cars.....
I got the car on 10/25/14 my C300.
Brand new C class. And I have to say I love this car. IMHO best mid size car in the market. Fav futures are LED lights and Speakers. Awesome!
Well at 6/3/15 I had to bring the car because it STOPPED on the highway with my wife and my son in the car. From 80 mph to 10 mph. LIMBO mode, cant accelerate......

I called MB USA and spoke with Regional Rep. His name was Andrew.
He was very brief the first time, told me they will review and send rep to see the dealer and review all the notes.
He called 5 days later and rejected my request to buy the car back or issue and replacement.Very short tempered and rude. Still professional but no feeling and nothing to say....Sorry, we will fix it nothing.
I will have an lawyer involved (I am an CPA) that's fairly familiar the law (Was an expert witness few times)
I will keep you posted.
I will take car back to a dealer next week.

From my own experience, I was able to get my dealership to take action after arming myself with information. I printed off 30+ pages of complaints from safercar.gov and showed them to the dealership's GM to prove that I'm not crazy (check out the complaints for the 2014 CLA). If you haven't done so already, you should file a complaint with NHTSA and contact MB's customer care center to get a case manager assigned. You may also want to check out any lemon laws that may apply to you.
Either way just be prepared for a long and drawn out process.

I contacted MBUSA corporate and politely told them my concerns. App. 10 weeks later they contacted me and said that they were repurchasing the vehicle. We bought a 2016 GLC and it has been flawless.

It happened AGAIN!!
See my post above. Error "collision prevention assist plus inoperative" popped up again while I was driving 65mph on the freeway today...with a semi behind me! Lost all acceleration and I am lucky to have made it to the shoulder without getting into a horrible accident. Dropped it off at the dealer. Bottom line, this is the third time it has happened. Every time, I have come close to being in an accident. I won't take the car back. Here's to hoping Mercedes with buy the car back without much fanfare and I can pick up a trusty Volvo again.

Heard back from the service adviser. The same code appeared as before, so the first "fix" clearly did not work. MB recommends replacing all the sensors.
Here's the problem. I was almost semi-roadkill yesterday morning and have no assurances this "fix" will work. If it were something other than losing the ability to accelerate while driving, I would be happy to give the service department more chances to repair the issue. The adviser recommended after speaking with the service manager that I contact MBUSA costumer service and open a case to review a repurchase. I opened a case, and spoke to my case manager today. She said she couldn't guarantee or even necessarily advise I open a repurchase review given that this was only its second time in the shop for this issue and there was a new fix available. She recommended I speak with the service manager again about the severity of the issue and have them take it up with MBUSA.
So, has anyone had the dealer take ownership of the problem and repurchase the vehicle? That seems like a much smarter business model than sending someone back on the road with a vehicle that randomly spurts errors that cause the car to lose its ability to accelerate!
