Crack open your window about a 1/8 - 1/16 inch. It sounds like it's just barely cracked.

[QUOTE=DBOC205;6783192]Here's some info for Australian customers wondering about getting acoustic glass replacement:

  • Firstly, good luck aiming to get the replacement for free (or under warranty) unless you're driving the C63S (that's according to the conversation I had with my dealer; apparently because parts availability is too tight)
  • Price: AUD$607 (inc. GST) for the pair, plus fitting.
Here's an excerpt from the Euro MB parts price database, just so you know how much you're getting screwed once the 'Australia Tax' hike is applied .

WOW.

I didn't think I have wind noise but now I'm super paranoid about it after reading it here. Going to see my dealer on Thurs and will enquire. TBH, I'm more concerned with the creaking from the back window and side door.

If you don't sense an issue, why would you even ask the dealership? If you don't hear any wind noise, leave well enough alone IMHO.

It has more wind noise than my W204 but I don't know what's normal for the W205.

I'm getting some other issues fixed so will ask them to assess whether the noise is an issue.

I have a hard time believing it's really that bad...

If it is that bad, that's totally justified to beat up MB on quality / design problems.

Having said that, I agree with kleinebin that, a lot of times, I may not have an issue with a car (any issue, wind noise or otherwise - it doesn't even need to be a car), but because of all the stuff I read on forums, I try really hard to make sure that I don't have a specific issue, and can get very paranoid. The quality of life suffers when that happens!

Is there anyone in the US who has purchased the acoustic glass personally? If you could PM me with details of US pricing and an online parts supplier, I would be most grateful.

Acoustic Glass Installed
Got acoustic glass installed today. Having the service bulletin number from this forum was very helpful. No arguments from the dealer. It took 2 days to order and receive the glass. I don't yet know if it will make a difference. There was too much traffic on my short ride home to test it. From the service order:

My car was in the dealership today for my grill install. I told them of the creaks. Service rep said they fixed them all (I didn't ask how as I was in a hurry) and they are 100% gone.

After two days of driving.....still one happy dude. Virtually NO wind noise now.

MB replaced my driver side window earlier and after that I didn't hear the wind noise. However, it was present on passenger side. Complaint about it and finally they replaced the right window.

1 205-725-18-00 SIDE WINDOW PANE

Re-tinted

Also, my car had the wrist pin issue and replaced all 4 pistons.

After all of these, I can say my car got some exclusivity It is extremely quiet and drives like a champ. Engine noise is also very subdued.

Happy dude.

Seems to me the W205 has far more road noise (on rough pavement) than wind noise...

Does the wind noise service bulletin include the Coupe?
Has anyone in the UK got the acoustic glass fitted under warranty?

I have a March 2016 build C300 Coupe. My glass is definitely not acoustic as standard. I have noticeable wind noise at 60mph+ but it's not really really bad. It sounds like it's coming from the mirrors. Road and traffic noise is very noticeable. I can even clearly hear the conversation of pedestrians walking past while I'm parked.

Glass is glass no matter whether ford or Mercedes and all will allow noise.

They will only replace with acoustic glass if they agree there is an issue.

I had mine replaced under warranty on my s205.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. In most cases I think it will be purely a decision by the dealer and on how much they value your business. The glass is relatively cheap really (only 60 euros a piece) so the overall cost of keeping a customer happy is a small price to pay for some.

I know of a C63S owner in Australia who was denied the acoustic glass and he ended up doing it himself. Given that the car here costs 160 thousand + dollars, I find that dealer attitude amazing really. For added context the dealer had also dismissed the service bulletin, claiming it was applicable only for northern Europe and not relevant here because of our lack of 'high speed roads'.

When you get your windows done, is it front and rear? I just noticed the other day, I think my FRONT windows are IX (low noise) but the rear two are not and it's the REAR where I always hear the noise and think the door is open.

that's interesting. probably because the wind noise is subdued due to the acoustic glass in the front, you hear it elsewhere.

most of us hear it from the front primarily, though if i pay attention, i can also hear the rear windows being noisy.
