Quote: May I ask which Bay Area MB dealer you went to? since some of us had experience where dealer is reluctant to lookup or admit the wind noise / wrist pin issue. I may go to the same to avoid issues.
I went to RAB Motors in San Rafael. Shortly after buying my C300 from them 13 months ago, I complained about the wind noise and got the standard answer that they all are like that. This time I came armed with this tread and highlighted the discussion of LI72.10-P-062500. Next thing I knew they were handling the problem as prescribed in the original German version posted here. 10 days later I got my car back with a rebuilt engine due to the wrist pin issue and acoustic glass. RAB had no problem getting the acoustic glass from MBUSA within a couple days.

I am happy to report that the acoustic glass has resulted in a huge improvement in wind noise. Kind of ironic though because now I can hear the road noise more clearly. But it is much less annoying than the wind noise was.

I left my C300h in again to dealer for wind noise. They replaced only the door circumferential seals. It has made very little difference. See video below of their work from the technician - enjoy the Belfast accent

[QUOTE=c21bill;6694450]My C300 is at the dealer as of this morning to do the Wind Noise Service Bulletin. I'll let you all know how it works out.[/

Took the car in last Monday for acoustic glass install but unfortunately one of the windows got broken in shipment. They reordered and kept my car. Fortunately my dealer furnishes very nice loaners (GL class). Maybe tomorrow.

Oh lucky. My car is currently at the dealer getting several things looked at, including wind noise, and I got a base CLA as a loaner. I really don't like it, especially since I bumped my head pretty hard on the trunk. I hate how it barely opens high enough. I have to duck down to put things in the trunk and today I was in a rush and my forehead went right into the bottom of the trunk lid. Ouch.

Finally got my car back yesterday with acoustic side glass and map update. Car is noticeably (not totally) quieter. For those that have concerns with excessive wind noise this fix is definitely worth pursuing.

I should be getting my car back soon from the dealer. I spoke with the service advisor today and he did confirm that they found wind noise and fixed it, but I guess we'll see if it's really been fixed.

Checked my car with a decibel meter today. It is about 7-8db quieter than before which is around a 10% noise reduction.

I notice that people with wind noise issues mostly seem to have MY 2015. When did the factory fix the problem on their assembly line? One would think such issues wouldn't exist at the factory itself after the bulletin board was posted, but it helps to know for someone walking around the dealer lot to check the production date before making a purchase.

It's easier to roll the window down and confirm the dual pane glass.

Well, but apparently a lot of the wind noise problems are not related to the glass... It doesn't seem to be the primary cause of the problems people talk about - hence, the question goes to - Does anyone know when they fixed the wind noise problem on the assembly line since most complaints seem to be from vehicles made for the 2015 model during earlier production?

They haven't really "fixed" it. They've mitigated it to a degree with the addition of acoustic glass to dampen the noise. They double check seals, mirrors, and door alignments are correct. Outside of that, the design is just a bit noisy at speed. I have heard rumors from techs that work on noise issues that MB is working on a quieter solution such as mirrors with a different aerodynamic profile. My 450 shipped with acoustic glass 01/16. I had a loaner C300 with a date of 10/15 with the acoustic glass.

Mirrors? What mirrors?

Mirrors? Why would cars have mirrors? Wouldn't they cause drag and noise? Wouldn't the blind spots cause a lot of accidents?

"Mirrors with a different aerodynamic profile" must be strictly a quick-fix. Within five years, mirrors will be gone. Older cars that still have them will look out-of-date (because they will be). I have already seen press reports about the TV systems are being tested to replace the mirrors.

I admire your wishful thinking. I agree, it's absolutely true that a camera and LCD screen should eventually take the place of mirrors. However, cameras and LCD screens have been readily available to do the job for well over a decade. So where are they? Tied up with the NHTSA. It will take a very long time for them to muddle through and allow that to happen.

I don't think mirror laws are federally regulated as most states and provinces in Canada have their own laws regarding mirror placement.

Please stay on topic, this is not a discussion for future mirror-less cars.

Doesn't the 2016 have the acoustic glass? I'm currently in a '16 loaner (mine in for wind noise & wrist pins) and it has the acoustic glass. My dealer said they will start with replacing the seals and if that doesn't work they will replace the glass.

Hi.
I just picked up my 2015 C300 (on the road date 08/2015) one week ago and noticed the wind noise when driving over 100km/h. My first thought was "that's kind of annoying, the window is all the way up". It sounds like the window is slightly open.

I'm hoping I can get it resolved.

My 2016 C450 did not have the acoustic glass.. wind noise and exhaust note noise IS an issue. I'm wondering if this is going to be a TSB/TSA that one can point to to have the work done?

When was your car built (production date)?

Quote: Yeah I was thinking that too. But what could be the problem? Cause from my sound in the car, it sound either like the Windows should go higher up. Or maybe that the glass isn't seated tightly enough in its top position, so it doesn't seal?

That way a thicker glass maybe sits better and seals in at the top position.
Man I wish you lived a little bit closer Vic..
