W205 Steering Wheel Noise
I have a 2016 C300 and I've noticed that my steering wheel makes a noticeable whining noise when I'm turning it at low speeds (parking) or while stationary. I don't recall having this with my 2014 C250.
Is this normal for the W205?

Had this for a while but went a away by itself. I raised it at the first service and they found nothing.

I just picked up my 2nd hand C250 W205 yesterday from main dealer and as I drove off the steering wheel was squeaking. I drove back to the dealer, and he took it to the shop and they lubricated the steering wheel and problem was gone. Looks like a known problem as the workshop guys fixed in 10 mins.

On my W205 C200 I have noticed a soft whining noise when turning the steering wheel either way. I have to turn the music down to hear it but its definitely there. My car barely has 2k on the clock & I will be taking up the issue with the local dealer under warranty & I hope it whines at the shop so they know what I'm talking about..
Service guys replaced the steering shaft & rubber boot but after 45 minutes of driving the whining noise reappeared again. A C200 owner in Singapore has got this recorded on YouTube so it seems its a universal problem which MB has not yet been able to address.

I have this problem in my C200 w205 2016. The dealer hasn’t found any noticeable problem, and they said the whole steering box should be replaced in order to fix the noise. I found there are many w205 owners reporting this same issue, is there any recall program from MB?

Depending on which of the two sounds you are hearing (and if from outside or inside), it could be the ball joint or just the piece beneath the steering column.

The noise in the steering comes from inside, it is a squeak and can be heard in the attached video. It occurs sporadically, only at low speed or with the vehicle parked. My vehicle only has 23,000 km (14,291 miles) and the solution proposed by the dealer is to replace the whole steering system, which has a cost of around 30% of the current market value of my used vehicle in my country (Colombia), this is completely ridiculous. In this context, I would like to know if Daimler AG has a global recall that fix this very common issue. I found a document that addresses steering problems on this model, but it applies to USA market (I hope this could help me, document is also attached). I'll keep posted updates here about this problem and I kindly ask that if someone else has this problem, let me know how it was resolved, any information about this can help me.

Your video was very clear. I have some good news, I found the video for your particular situation that I came across a few years ago, as stated in my other post if it is happening inside then it won't be the ball joint.

As suspected, it was the rubber piece that is rubbing.
Here is the solution posted in the video by other youtubers (copied and pasted exact words) (posted by youtuber M.C.):
"DEFINITIVE SOLUTION:
1-remove(partially open) the cover under the steering wheel at the level of the pedals. you will see the column with a bellows and a yellow caoutchouc. the yellow part must be fixed on the column. it wears out over time
2- push the yellow caoutchouc and the bellows towards the bottom of the car frame.
3- surround the steering column with double-sided tape to obtain thickness.
4- pull the bellows and the yellow part each so that it gets stuck/block on the double face that you have installed, and that it turns WITH the steering column. the yellow part can turn inside the bellows with the steering column. no need to change the part.
100% functional solution. no need to put wd40 (not definitive solution)"

If it doesn't work for you, you may check other comments in the youtube video, some suggested WD40 but another youtuber suggested WD40 isn't a good solution.

I had this issue and they changed the drive link i believe? And now it's gone
