NTG 5.5 has it. New E and probably the S and C after 2017. Two of our current cars have it but neither driver uses it. I had it on a rental and used it quite a bit.
If you all carefully observe the interior of each of these listed vehicles -
2016 A-Class
2016 B-Class
2016 CLA-Class
2016 CLS-Class
2016 E-Class Cabriolet
2016 E-Class Coupe
2016 GLA-Class

You will find that all of these use previous generation COMAND NTG5*1 system. This system has a numeric keypad and only a rotational knob to control the infotainment system.
The two glaring omissions in the aforementioned list are 2016 C-Class and 2016 S-Class, both of which use the most latest iteration, COMAND NTG5*2 system. This latest COMAND system gets rid of the numeric keypad and adds a touch pad. See attachment for distinction between COMAND NTG5 systems.
I have been doing a lot of research on this, there are some folks on russian fora who have retrofitted Carplay firmware, that has been released for the aforementioned vehicles, on some older vehicles that were shipped with COMAND NTG5*1 hardware. This clearly proves that once NTG5*2 firmware with Carplay comes out (possibly on 2017 E-Class), it can definitely be flashed on to any of the vehicles with NTG5*2 hardware including W205 cars.
Now I truly hope it doesn't come down to doing all the dirty coding and flashing work. I hope Mercedes takes care of its customers and just issues a software update for all of us and prove that they are "Best or Nothing".
Both BR213 and Facelift BR222 uses NTG 5.5. NTG5 star2 will never be compatible with carplay.
However... There's a chance the facelift BR205 will get NTG 5.5 aswell.

I think it's very complicated. I have a GLC with NTG 5.2 and my dealer told me there is no way to make Carplay work, unless you change the hardware. Really not sure "which" HW part, but it's not just a firmware upgrade as far as I know. I wish it was.
I'm italian and i've just bought the new c-class coupè premium plus, with COMAND navigation, i'm also angry for this lack, probably i will not use anyhow Apple CarPlay/Android Auto but in a new €70k Mercedes we must have available all functions.
The italian site (just updated in these days) says that the smartphone integration (i.e. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) for c-class coupè will be available from third semester of 2017. Therefore if there isn't any programmerd update of COMAND (i think so) probably a software update will fix this lack introducing either Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Someone has any news about it?

This is so strange. Probably for the update Mercedes will include both hardware and software update, maybe for some euros, but it's impossible that if the COMAND system will be unchanged there's no chance to install the Apple Carplay/Android Auto.

Mine is a build from September 2015.
I only know it works on NTG 5*1
My c207 had an APS50
The MOPF was delivered up to NTG 4*5
The NTG 5*1 was never officially supported for my car.
But with Vediamo, xentry developer license and write Vedoc and access to the right telematica CD's you can make it work identical to a factory fit for everything your car supports.
Without access to above, forget it.
IF Mercedes makes it available for 5*2 as well AND that unit is your factory unit in your car, it should just be a matter of media upgradekit and adding the option in Vedoc, which triggers firmware update and carplay / mirrorlink updates to be accepted.

I'm not convinced. If you look at the GLC 2018 ordering guide, it says that CarPlay is available after September. However only on cars without Multimedia Package (COMAND).
There was some bad blood between ******* and the forum awhile back. ******* had a sponsorship and they were promoting a CarPlay retrofit for several cars including the 205. They appropriated a one-off demo video of a car they did not do, swore their module would do the same, and started taking pre-orders. (This whole story may have already been posted earlier in the thread somewhere).
I questioned their claims but rather than answer they would delete the entire thread and post a new one. Finally I called their 800 number hoping to speak with a product engineer or someone who knew what they were talking about. The phone system was fishy in that every "department" you'd reach would refer you back to the main menu.
Finally I found an option that rang through, but whoever answered said "Hello?' and was on a cell phone. I hung up. A few minutes later I received a text on my cell demanding that I delete my posts in the thread because the forum needs ******* to survive. When I asked who the sender was they said "MBWorld Admin". I told them if they were an admin they could delete the posts themselves. Then they said they were too busy to be deleting posts but they could just issue a permanent ban instead, at which point I told them to go f--- themselves.
I contacted the site admin who confirmed they hadn't sent the text, but they needed proof to shut down the sponsorship. I reverse indexed the number that sent the text and got a full name. I checked the name on Linkdin and he had a listing as the CEO of *******s.
He was promptly banned. Then, to retaliate, he created a fake Craigslist ad offering an Iphone 6 for sale for $150 with my phone number. I shut that down and he posted another one. Then i took his photo, name, address and telephone number and signed him up on a gay hook-up site. I won't give details but suffice it to say he was very horny and pretty much up for anything.
So then at least ******* was a one man operation being run out of a house in New Jersey by a crazy drunk Russian guy. Not sure if that's still the case.
He was promptly banned. Then, to retaliate, he created a fake Craigslist ad offering an Iphone 6 for sale for $150 with my phone number. I shut that down and he posted another one.
